As far as Marvel superheros goes, Captain America is sort of a jingoistic cliche of the Office of War Information... the costume is just ridiculous. But that's fine, it was during WW2 after all.

But Marvel and Paramount are trying to turn it into a real-life movie with some quasi-realistic basis a la Batman Begins... with the guy still dressed up like the ambiguously gay version of uncle Sam. Am I really the only that thinks it's stupid?
 
I never did care for this comic character and will watch the movie when it gets out on dvd since it does look stupid but with the avengers coming out eventually it would be worth watching just for that story part.

If you know the story.. then you have a 1:1 chance of guessing how it ends.
It HAS to end that way... it always does.

I know how it ends, him getting trapped in ice and all that, but with most of the avengers characters getting a movie it's worth it just for that in case they add some random stuff like they do.

They probably will.. they've already teased the Cosmic Cube in THOR... so the Captain America stinger has to tease more of the AVENGERS story..
 
I'll be seeing Captain America launch weekend. Personally, I think the new costume looks better than the bright blue jumpsuit he wore in the comics. Stuff like that doesn't really translate well to live action flicks.

As that looks pretty good to me and a lot less stupid than most superhero costumes (and lets face it a superhero without a stupid costume is pretty pointless).

They still need to make a film based on this guy though.

Anyway - I to me it looks like it could be good but Hollywood has a 65% chance of ruining everything they touch so...
 
The trailer looks pretty bad, but I trust Marvel's self-produced films. Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk (newer one), Thor, X-Men First Class. Impressive resume.

the triangular one was great for WW2 setting. it fits with the comic.


Capt America is/was (its getting weird) one of my favorite comic books the last few years. he has changed a lot.
 
I think Capt America looks bad ass. That little dude goes in and comes out big as hell. I think its going to kick butt.

I thought it would be dumb until I saw a trailer. I have never cared about comics at all but the trailer made it look interesting. Contrast with green lantern, looked abominable in trailers and critics agreed.
