Canidates pretty much bought all of the votes. This isn't a vote on how the public likes the candidates, it is a measure of how much money the candidates want to spend in Iowa.

So yes, Romney bought most of his votes. Same goes with the other candidates.

Paul didn't even get 11%.

Although, in your fantasy world, I suppose you could hope that all Thompson votes go to Paul, giving him 10.5% out of ten candidates. Even still, Paul is no where close to having enough votes. That is because the votes aren't and won't be so closely split that 11% will win.

I was referring to the fact that romney bought like 75% of the votes but only won by about 30%.

Also, coming to the thread late, am I the only one that saw that dullard's post on the first page about polling numbers was pretty sad? I mean they weren't even about the same things. One was a general, "who do you like" and the other one was, "who did better in the debate."

Because probably every single person at the straw poll already knows who John MCcain is and exactly what he stands for. Come ON! Who in America doesn't know about John MCcain? On the other hand probably less than half of them knew who Ron Paul is.

From what I read, GWB somewhat got a big boost out of the Iowa straw poll in the election of 11/2000. But as PJ points out, did no win as big a percentage. But, still the Iowa republican party did less well revenue wise because the turn out is far smaller this year than nearly eight years ago.

Leading us all to the conclusion that GASP, the big winner this year in Iowa is global warming. And that Iowa is just too parched to participate.
