I've been a little down lately, but Forbes just perked me up. Michigan is faring better this year. Detroit was #1 last year. We'll gladly pass the baton to Stockton, CA.

The most miserable cities are;

Stockton, CA
Memphis, TN
Chicago, IL
Cleveland, OH
Modesto, CA
Flint, MI
Detroit, MI
Buffalo, N.Y.
Miami, FL
St. Louis, MO

In Illinois, 385 public officials have been convicted of crimes over the past decade. That's a jaw-dropping number.

 
Memphis is no garden by any means but it is light years better than Detroit. Ditto with Chicago.

I wonder if they have some size limit to the city. MA, CT, RI and NY have lots of little crumbling cities competing for the title of "armpit of New England."

 
I've seen pictures of detroit and other areas of michigan. Probably the most depressing pictures i have ever seen.

It is the most MISERABLE cities. I imagine that there is just a certain amount of the population in Michigan that just gave the fuck up giving everyone else the chance to leapfrog them as everything goes to shit for them.
 
Also, Buffalo should not be on the list. A lot of people like snow and there is no way you can live in Buffalo without enjoying it. Just because it is cold and snowy doesn't mean that it is miserable.

Memphis does. And we've had the same loser Mayor for years who hasn't done one damn thing to make this city any better. He's still in office because he's black. I hate to say it like that, but the truth hurts.

In one of my previous jobs building garbage trucks, we filled a order for about 6 or 10 bullet proof garbage trucks for Chicago. Used something like 1'' side plating where the normal would be 1/4'' o3 3/16''.

Why did they do that, in Chicago it is illegal to own firearms unless they are dismantled and locked in a safe. Seems to me there would be no reason to bullet proof anything.

The vast majority of all cities vote democratic. If you had a list of the happiest cities in America, they would also vote democratic.
