You say volumes about your own prejudices in that statement.Originally posted by: NickelTitanium
The business that has a "American-Owned" Banner outside is considered racist or not? I believe it is. It is as good as stating "White-Owned"
If I were to be of Indian descent but was born here, could I post such a banner? The customers wouldn't think I was American just because I have dark skin.
What does the "American-Owned" Banner mean to you than just the obvious...?
Racism against minorities is much more complex and problematic than me stereotyping a redneck whose only addition to this conversation was "get a gun". I think you need to get your priorities straight bud. Or maybe you are supporting this guy for other reasons...?Originally posted by: Zenmervolt
You have no way whatsoever of knowing that. The only basis you have for making that claim is a stereotype and even if you're right (which you may very well _not_ be), you're still stereotyping and relying upon the same logic as a racist.Originally posted by: Proletariat
I really think my post wasn't out there though. Hes obviously taking the redneck point of view with "Real men carry guns", but would he abide by that statement? No. He wouldn't, if a brown dude with a turban down the street has a gun hes prob gonna report him.

The irony these days is the ones crying "racism" all the time are usually more racist than the people they accuse.
Listen JUnior, for about 5 years starting when I was 16 , I was the ONLY white person in the clubs the bands I used to play with. YES, I know what it's like. I also know that after most of them got over the shock, of an underaged person being in the nightclub, they went about their business.Originally posted by: NickelTitanium
Having that sign in a Big City vs. a Small Town would be quite different? Have you folx gone into a restaurant and have everyone stare just because you are the wrong color?
I wish that I would give everyone the benefit of the doubt but history does not dictate.
Don't answer based on a "We" mentality but an "I" mentality. Mob mentality is a very dangerous thing. (KKK)

What happened to you sucks dude. Honestly. But how do you know those other people didn't face the same racism from us (whites) and just prejudged you because of your skin color and previous experience. The fact is we had a whole Manifest Destiny thing going on that was a lot different than just plain prejudice. We believed the world was ours by word of God. That has left a sour taste in many peoples mouths. But w/e racism you experience in regular life - just remember we still control this country and we always have. We've never been disenfranchised, pushed to the side etc. So we don't really know how it feels.Originally posted by: Ronstang

Oh wait, that's not what you meant is it. You're trying to prove that racism only goes in one direction. My bad.
Didn't you get the memo? Racism only exists when it is white people judging ANYONE else, regardless of whether they are actually a race or not. Your story reminds me of a job I once had. Walked in the first day to find I was the only white guy among a whole crew of Blacks and Hispanics. They treated me like pure sh!t for months. Calling me names, harrassing me, trying to get me to do more work than was my job. Nice impression they left on me. I didn't cave in to their crap so finally they accepted me...but it is obvious they were a bunch of prejudicial racist jerks, huh?

No, it's not any worse when it's against minorities. It's _exactly_ the same faulty logic both ways. My priority is the elimination of faulty logic, regardless of which direction the fault points.Originally posted by: Proletariat

The idea that a sign denoting national origin would be considered "racist" is simply absurd and shows just how abused the race card has become.
"American" is not a "race." It is a nationality. There are Americans of all races.

He likes to wallow in his white liberal guilt and will do anything to ignore reality. He's a disillusioned little college kid who wears Che shirts and preaches Marxism as if it were something good.

Hey, don't lump him with some of us. I consider myself to be moderate but around where I live I'm considered to be liberal. Just because he's trolling this thread much like the OP doesn't mean we all are. I think this thread is a total fvcking joke.

But did you read the guys post before that? For some reason you chose to take that out of context. The previous poster said:
