Malak, you are seriously misinformed about cars. Weren't you the one saying that G35s are Skylines earlier?

It was designed and built in Australia, which means its Australian. They had them there long before we got the GTO here.

I don't care, I like to make people get upset over stupid things. Cars is such a hot topic in OT, turns the place into P&N jr.

No one is getting upset, the problem is a lot of people around here like to talk about things they know nothing about.

and alot of people know quite a lot about cars as well.

Japanese cars aren't 'muscle' cars, because they don't try to be. completely different design philosophy. and the word 'muscle' is pretty cheesy.

Exactly. I don't know who gets upset over stupid stuff like that, but I guess some people must if you get such a kick out of it.

I think its more that you post things thinking you know what you're talking about and then when you get called on them you play the "I knew that, I was just saying that to make people mad" card in the hope that people won't know that you don't know what you're talking about.

My guess is you didn't even have a clue you were posting a picture of a Monaro and not a GTO and instead were aiming to tick off the anti-Japanese crowd who revere American muscle.

Why did you link to an Australian car as American Muscle?

If I linked to the American version of the Skyline, would it be an American car? The cars in Australia are our cars, they are imports to them 😛 That's a Pontiac GTO btw.

You need to give Aussies a little more credit.

The Monaro beat a bunch of 911s and a Ferrari at Bathurst. Then it became a GTO. 😛

The comparison should read American Muscle versus Japanese Efficiency.... They dont make muscle cars

as much as I like japanese cars, if you're talking straight muscle car, dollar for dollar, it's almost impossible for anyone to pass domestics. The other day, I basically watched a 3 lane, 3 way stoplight contest between a 350Z, CLK430, and an 05 stang GT. It went GT, then CLK, then Z.

They are BUILT IN AUSTRALIA AND IMPORTED TO THE US.

Stop posting in car threads.

NUH UH

your a fvck wit...the Monaro was DESIGNED AND BUILT BY GMH(HOLDEN) which is an AUSTRALIAN automotive company....it was then imported to the US had it's styling fvcked up by Pontiac and the sold to the US as the GTO, we had the monaro as far back as 2001.

We haven't imported GM or Fords fromthe US since the 60's since they don't sell well here..umm something to do with the piss poor build quality of american cars.

the engines we use in the Monaro, especially the HSV variants are more powerful than the US spec LS1

just a pity that the Monaro that raced at the bathurst 24 had nothing in common with the road going variants...it used a 7.0litre not the 5.7litre

but as an answer to your question...since you only linked the Monaro and not the Ford Falcon GTP or XR6 Turbo, I would have to say that Jap muscle wins in this thread, I don't know of too many US made cars that could equal a GTR Skyline, come to think of it not much in Australia could equal those either and thanks to numerous petitions by GMH to the offical racing bodies in Australia during the earlier 90's the GTR was banned for ever from competition in this country.

I used to like watching Bathurst and seeing GTR's beat the V8 GMH's by more than 7 laps...the only rival that the GTR had in Australia at the time was the Ford Serria, and it was banned too🙁

Considering how the Camaro will probably cost half of what a GT-R does, I'd go with Camaro. You get the essence of a muscle car, without all the expensive addons. Also, I think Holden suspension and chassis with a US engine and body are the best of all worlds. And it just looks gorgeous. It has instant classic written all over it.

The new LY Dodge Challenger is reportedly planned for the 2007-2008 calendar year (see the "production version" section below). LY is the platform code for the second-generation LX cars (an unfortunate designation!). The Challenger may ride a shorter wheelbase to decrease weight, but on the other hand, it may simply be a two-door variant, much as the Charger was a two-door version of the Coronet.

Learned something new today. This was in 2002 right?

I'm looking it up right now... seems like there was a lot of debate on whether that 427 should/shouldn't be in there since high end supercars were having a pretty hard time with it.
