I missed the show because my ReplayTV didn't record it due to the time change. Yeah, I know, bad programming on my part. Anyway...

I can't believe that LaToya is off the show. I mean, WTF???!!! First it was Amy and then Jennifer. Well, LaToya being voted off is the last straw for me. I'm not watching anymore of this or any future seasons until the voting method is changed.

Don't get me wrong, I think Jasmine is absolutely beautiful and has a nice personality but her voice is nowhere near Latoya or Diana. For that matter Amy and Jennifer have better voices than Jasmine. After her average-at-best performances last night how could she possibly be in the top 2 in votes? And how could Latoya - the most consistant and talented performer - be last? Oh, and don't think I forgot the dork Jon and boring red head Sinatra wannabe lasting as long as they did. How did they make the top 12 in the first place??

Oh well, I really enjoyed watching some of the contestants perform but I'm done. I know my not tuning in isn't going to make a difference to Fox or the show but now that the best singer in the contest is gone I have a feeling I'm not alone. I hope I'm not. If the ratings drop maybe it will force a change in how contestants are judged. I just deleted my American Idol ReplayTV channel. Bu-bye AI, it was fun while it lasted...

PS - Looking forward to hearing about LaToya getting a recording deal. I don't purchase CD's very often (screw you RIAA) but should she produce one I'll pick it up.
 
That's really surprising that Latoya is gone. She had no charisma, but she was a really good singer.

But my guess for the reason her and Fantasia were in the bottom two... because they were splitting the black votes. Now that there's only one black contestant left, Fantasia is going to get all of the black votes, and it'll be alot. Same thing happened with Jasmine and the other Hawaiian girl.

I wish George Huff were still in it, though.
 
As I've said before it's not a singing contest. It is nothing more than a popularity contest.

Jasmine is pretty plus she cried...let's give her the most votes even though she can't sing for sh!t.
Diana is getting all the John Stevens and JPL votes

Fantasia & Latoya are the only 2 singers, let's vote LaToya off because she has a boring personality
 
Man La Toya's fans have no class, they were all booing Jasmine Trias and sh1t. That was just flat out mean.

correction: while this isn't a contest based on pure skill, it's not based purely on popularity either. it's based on who can SELL records. we all know pure skill doesnt and neither does pure looks. the hong kong music market is a perfect example, for anybody who's familiar with it.

in any case, i thought latoya shoulda stayed. jasmine too. those two porkers need to go. great singers, but not gonna grace any record covers. i put in 3 votes for jasmine. bite me.

Well I wanted a Jasmine / Latoya finale... I don't know how Latoya was kicked if this was based on skill and who fits the "idol" mold. It's a damn shame the voting system sucks.
 
Blah, there's no point in even watching the show anymore. I skipped the broadcast because I noticed on the program guide that they were going to drag it out for an hour. Now I'm just going to stop watching the show completely.

I've never liked Fantasia's voice, it sounds cartoonish. Her personality also irks me.

Diana's voice is okay, but not as good as latoya's. Also Diana really has a Mickey Mouse Club thing going on, which is annoying.

Jasmine is not a good singer. People who vote for her vote for her because they think she is hot. Newsflash for you voting-for-Jasmine-20-times-basement-nerd types: If you were walking down the street and fell flat on your face, Jasmine would step right over you.

The only saving grace in all of this is that Latoya will get a recording contract regardless of what the pedo voters of America have decided. Jasmine, on the other hand, will probably have to win the competition to get a recording contract. Name one good performance that Jasmine has given that has blown everyone away. There isn't one. She sucks.

Totally agree. Between the amount of time they waste dragging it out (come on, a psychic consultation? *TWO* Donna Summer performances?) and the scale of the competition, it's not worth watching anymore.

I've gotten to the point where I can appreciate some of what she does -- for some reason I liked the second song she did last night, which makes me the only one. 😛

The key to Diana's voice is that she has to be pushing the maximum amount of air through her vocal chords at any given time. When she does softer stuff, her accent comes out and she warbles. For her sake, it's good that the bombastic stuff is the easiest to impress with.

The only saving grace in all of this is that Latoya will get a recording contract regardless of what the pedo voters of America have decided. Jasmine, on the other hand, will probably have to win the competition to get a recording contract. Name one good performance that Jasmine has given that has blown everyone away. There isn't one. The *only* time she sounded good was in the very first week and she's gone constantly downhill since. She needed Camille around to sound good in comparison to. Also, while she did genuinely seemed shocked and embarassed for not being in the bottom two, I have to point out the sh1t-eating grin on her face after the boos subsided. I predict that Latoya's votes shift to Fantasia and this acts as a wakeup call to the audience, much like when Jen Hudson got booted in favor of John Stevens.

I would probably say this for any genre at this point, but George was much missed this week. Disco seems like it'd be very compatible with his voice.

I totally agree. Jasmine sounded very good the first week and have gone down hill since.
 
Mark my words. The asian will win to round out the races for the total so far. White, Black, and now, asian.

I'm asian, and I'm calling it.
 
I'm looking forward to next season already -- EW mentioned an intriguing bit about McCartney and Bob Dylan being interested in theme nights. Hopefully they won't screw it up with awful genre nights next year.
 
bah i don't think it has anything to with racism than it has with little girls and a bunch of perverted men.

latoya appeared just too cool and distant for anyone to like. her voice is great and she will do fine. unfortunately she won't get that AI hype to push her along.

i really have no idea who will win now. this is turning into season 1. i don't want diana to win because i just can't fathom her as an american idol. she's just too young... she needs to belt everything out in order to sound good, which i blame on all her national anthem singing.

jasmine shouldn't win but because of hawaii and dirty men everywhere she's gotten along a lot further than perhaps she deserves.

fantasia would have received a record deal no matter what.

this is turning into a repeat of season one.
 
I really don't get Jasmine. She can sing certain songs, though she tries to push her range too much. Her pitch is consistently flat. I really can't understand this. I've been trained as a musician for 13 years. As a musician, and especially a singer, you should be very aware of whether or not you're in tune or not. And she really isn't in tune!!

Latoya getting voted off is a travesty.

Actually, I'd guess that maybe 5 / 10 finalists will get contracts like last year.
 
wow so many of you playing the race thing as a factor in votes and how they will shift from one to the other. Did we forget the bottom 3 were black at one point ? With that, did we forget that the FACT is there are more black households watching AI than whites according to Nielsen ? That throws any race-based reason for voting completely out the window. As for shifting votes, why would it be the case when they didn't vote for the white-guy or the black-guy in the first place ? Bottom 3 or bottom 2... you had your "worst" performers, according to the dumbass voting system that allows you to vote more than once (and quite a hassle to even get through at all, mind you). I don't have a solution for the voting, but the point is... a competition like this should not be voted on this way. It's a contest for whoever has the most time on their hands to vote.

I didn't find LaToya cool and distant. I would use the words reserved and humble before that. Either way, LaToya's personality was better than Fantasia with her rude, stuck up, know it all attitude. I think LaToya is this years Tamayra Gray (sp?). She'll wind up with a recording deal in spite of getting booted well before she should have.

Of those left I think Diana has the best voice. Jasmine is pretty but her voice isn't strong enough and Fantasia is just annoying. She's got a "nails on the chalkboard" voice to me.

Jasmine has some strong support - can't really blame her for it. All this proves is Fox *needs* to find a better way to determine the winners. It's amazing the general public pretty much agrees on who's best/worst yet we wind up with these results. I'm not saying it's fixed but...

Why? Everyone I know that watches the show *hates* her voice and attitude. She's got a nasaly, whiny voice and she's butt ugly. The only song I heard her sing that I enjoyed was the soft one where she cried. It's pretty sad when the best thing the judges can say is she's "different".

Both Fantasia and LaToya had range and the ability to sing different genre's, something the other 2 are lacking. That being said Clay had range and was even the better singer, yet he did not win. That being said Jasmine will win it all, simply because she is pretty...Welcome to American Beauty Pageant....err Idol
 
I love how if you think Jasmine is hot you're a "pedo" and "dirty old man". Some of you are pathetic.
