Why are people down on Anoop? Poor stage presence/lack of style?

Because it's Indian bashing season. Did you miss all the slumdog millionaire sucks donkey balls comments lately?

I'd like to believe people deserve more credit than that.

I think his stage presence sucks, but I'm still hoping he finds the right song and performance to get off the bottom rung.

this past week, i thought he had the right song / performance, but it will probably take 2 or 3 performances in a row like that before people start believing he is a "contendah".

Well he is odd and he definetely is gay and a drag-queen, although I am sure that's not coming out yet because he wants to win first.

All anybody has to do is search for his name on Youtube. They can quickly figure things out for themselves. So I don't think it's a matter of it "not coming out yet", just a matter of Adam not really caring, which is a good attitude to have.

Clay Aiken didn't win. That year was totally rigged. Maybe the gay thing hurt also but sometimes I think American Idol is quite rigged. Archuleta > Cook anyday also.

it's funny you say that because i see danny as a cross between archuleta and cook. frankly, i like danny better than archuleta.

Ya, Clay Aiken didn't win, but he came in second. Poor thing! Ya, it was so rigged. The fact that you said Archuleta is better than Cook let's me know that you're full of shit. 😛

At least watching and listening to Archuletta was much better than watching and listening Adam Lambert make love with the microphone, the camera, and himself, all at the same time, while singing as high as he can. Oh, and I'm not a fan of Johnny Cash or "Ring of Fire", but Adam's version was absolutely horrendous.

But it's all subjective, so whatever. Disregard my post. 🙂

Adam is a good performer. He has absolutely no range, though. I really didn't like his ring of fire, and Mad World was only marginal. His stage performance is good though.

The ring of fire song is totally original and made very much his own. I honestly don't think the American audience is ready for such performances. Europeans do appriciate it though.

not original. He was doing an already-produced arrangement, but it was awesome.

Being an Adam-hater, its painful to say that (for the most part) I really loved Adam's Mad World. He couldn't have picked a better song for his girly falsetto voice, and couldn't have done a better job than he did last night.

Still rooting for Anoop. Love his abilities. Allison is the coolest, but I think her voice needs more maturing. I'm getting tired of her, Kris Allen, and Scott MacIntire.

i think anoop might have the best "voice" in this competition, but he isn't the best "performer". Adam, i personally don't like his style, but it is undeniable he is a great performer with a very good voice, very good control of his voice. danny is probably the guy who will come in 2nd in my opinion. in all honesty, i've felt for quite a while that the judges know, they will use the save on anoop.

I think I pretty much agree on all counts.

Adam hater? WTF, so I take it you don't like Freddie Mercury either?

Freddie Mercury and Adam in the same sentence is enough to turn a sane person suicidal! Adam has 3 different ranges in his voice...high, higher, and grab your balls and scream. It sounds like he sings through his nose and has no lows.

But he's a helluva performer with incredible vocal control and great interpretation. That's what the judges like. For me tho I'd generally rather listen to fingernails on a chalkboard. Except when he sang Mad World that is. It was an absolutely great song for his high pitch yet unusually tempered screeching voice.

You have no clue what you are talking about. His voice is amazing and his range is INSANE! He goes from nice low notes to crazy high ones, like an opera singer. No lows? Are you kidding me? Did you see his Smokey Robinson song performance? That was enough to give me goosebumps.

He has no screeching in his voice whatsoever. Anyways everyone has their own opinion, yours just proves you have terrible taste and I'd hate to be in the car with you while you play your Ipod 😀

Opera singers know how to open their throat for a bigger sound with beautiful clean resonance, where he screams thru a straw.

That said, I didn't get to hear Ring of Fire before until now and this version by Lambert is better than Cash's original, no disrespect meant to the great Cash. I think the judges were so shocked, they clearly missed the boat on this one, except Randy, who was all over it and really loved it.

Whoa whoa whoa!

I wouldn't call it better, but it was definitely cool. Everything about that performance was spot-on, too.

The only controversial thing, I'd say, is that some seem to think that it was disrespectful to Cash? odd...because anyone that knows anything about Cash and his music would know that he would completely dig such a bizarre interpretation. Again, not original from Lambert, but definitely cool.

Well, they always talk about making or singing original songs, and they bash people who mimic the songs exactly like Lil did the other day. Sure it was a produced arrangement, but no one sang it like he did.

Go youtube him and check out his other songs, totally original. Checkout upright cabaret site and see him singing "crazy".

I don't like his attitude, I guess...and his ridiculous karaoke performances. just a douchebag fratboy, in my mind.

I agree that he can sing when he tones it down, but anytime he tries to up the tempo on a pop tune it becomes an incredibly bad caricature. I can't get past that "Beat it" rendition.

yeah, what the hell? That guy shouldn't have made the top 10. probably the most boring, forgettable, worthless singer the show has had.

The theme this week is Honoring Iconic Songs from Cinema. Hmm. And Quentin Tarantino is there as well.

ETA - And only two judges will be judging each singer tonight to keep the show from running over. That sucks.
