Overall, this week really did suck...the contestants were confronted by music that either A.) they could reproduce faithfully and be compared to MJ (they lose) or B.) try a new arrangement and possibly shoot themselves in the foot.

I have no idea who's going home this week, but my first guesses would be Jasmine and Scott - Scott has a great story, sure, but his singing technique is pretty poor and he certainly can't compare to a handful of the other guys. He won't be voted off though, due to his story. Jasmine just doesn't have the personality necessary nor the experience/age to pick good songs. She's got a pretty good voice but that won't be enough against the other women.

I thought Adam was great. The problem I am having with him is I can't get those pics that are floating around on the internet out of my mind. He is a damn good singer though.

I think Megan has potential, and is gorgeous, but she better step it up next week.

Despite not having seen TOO much of them yet, I can't wait to see who breaks out of their mold first. For instance, I'd like to see Adam sing a stripped down song that doesn't utilize his crazy range, or maybe another guy can sing a power ballad. 😀 (I'm thinking Anoop - he's got the chops for maybe some Journey and he can get away from the whole R&B thing for a week...but maybe that's just because I love Anoop)

I couldn't agree more. Those 5 seem like the best 5 out there. Jorge and Matt Girard could beat 1 or more of the girls out but that's about it.

I actually like Adam. Him and Allison are probably the 2 I look forward to the most every week b/c they are going to be different and rockish. Adam can sing like a madman even if it's a little hectic at times. I like Allison's voice a lot, but she sure is ackward during interviews and such. Lil can sing but I'm not a fan of her style, but no denying the voice.

Anoop's song seemed like a Karokee joke to me. I just cannot get over his chest tumping and pointing thing...plus he didn't sing good at all. Megan is even more odd...but I like to look at her at least.

Oh and as far as the "rule change" that was mentioned, here's my take. They will do it similar to "So you think you can dance". Where they put the bottom 2-3 vote getters of the week on a panel and the judges get the final say. This way they can protect the poeple who they think don't deserve to get kicked out b/c of 1 bad week and can stack it so that they choose their winner even more than they do now.

yeh, i agree. i think the "rule change" is going to be about the judges having more say over who goes being that Simon didn't think the people were necessarily going to like the change.

pretty much where I stand after that night. I like Scott, though; just thing that previous song was terrible. Hell, anyone that does Hornsby, even without the piano, is A-OK in my book (previous group week). I assume he'll get the sympathy vote.

Even though Anoop's performance was awful last night, I don't think he'll be leaving tonight.
 
Starting now! 2 eliminated tonight. Kelly Clarkson and Kanye West performing live. Carrie Underwood is performing too I think but via tape.

ETA - Almost 33 million votes last night! :Q
 
Judges Save rule announced by Ryan. Up until Top 5, the judges can save somebody only ONE week. It has to be unanimous amongst the judges. Also, the week that it isn't used causes two people to go home the next week.
 
Michael Sarver is safe (YAY!). Allison Iraheta is safe. Jasmine Murray is being asked to the center of the stage and has to stand there alone while Ryan continues. Matt Giraud is safe. Kris Allen and Megan Corkrey are asked to stand up. Kris is safe. Megan joins Jasmine center stage. One of them is safe and the other is going home unless they're saved by the judges. Megan is safe!

Jasmine is going home or is she?

She has to sing first before she finds out though. Eeeeee
 
And now we hear Carrie Underwood's version of Motley Crue's 'Home Sweet Home' for each contestant leaving. It's not a bad version. Of course, MC's version is better. 🙂
