No car, airplane or major machinery/device/etc is made by just one country. Their parts are sourced from all over the world. Even R&D can be split by different countries.

What makes a car US or Japanese though? Just the origin of the corporation? Toyota makes many of their US cars in the US using american made steel and american labor. Because of this for the past few years Toyota has been "the best selling American made made" because it is.

nearly impossible to tell the difference between Ford and Mazda now. Both make fine cars, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the drastic improvement in quality and reputation of Ford over the previous decade.
