I purchase what I need. I don't really care if it is US or China or Japan. For the most part, I drive a Honda and watch TV on my Toshiba.

Say the same: CHINA, FUCK YEAH 😎😎:awe::awe: ...because your computer and keyboard made there... 🙂
otherwise, you wouldn't be able to share, "like a little boy" your findings...

Too bad Russia doesn't make anything. It doesn't even make any worthwhile aeroplanes. 😎😎:awe::awe:

That's because US cars are shit. Japanese cars are just more reliable imo.

What makes a car US or Japanese though? Just the origin of the corporation? Toyota makes many of their US cars in the US using american made steel and american labor. Because of this for the past few years Toyota has been "the best selling American made made" because it is.

How would you know? You're a fucking child. Did mommy and daddy tell you that? Read about it somewhere? You should cite your sources. :colbert:

Ya cause the first thing Pyrex would do when they change their formula to something cheaper is write a bunch of articles about it and publish them.

I'm not saying they changed their formula by the way. I don't know and I don't care. Its just what sources exactly would exclaim "Pyrex now using cheaper materials to make glass" and who would fund it?

He may have a point if wikipedia is to be believed.

What's really ironic about this is how many Japanese cars are made in the United States.

But yeah, I hate that everything is made in China these days. Greed, corporate interests and profit rules yo... fuck the people. They should scratch out 'We the people' on the constitution and replace it with 'Fuck the people.' It's more accurate.

Consumer Reports: Glass Bakeware That Shatters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyhdMa1ikKM

the test done by CR is absolutely useless. they essentially put the glass on a hot surface (like a stove), which you are not supposed to do.

the reverse is also true - taking an extremely hot item, and then exposing it to something that can transfer heat very quickly (like water - the wet counter top used in CR's example) also leads to shattering.

in both cases, very large thermal gradients and stresses are induced, which is why the glass shatters.

the testing by CR tells me two things:

1) soda-lime glass is more sensitive to thermal shock than borosilicate glass
2) consumers do not understand how to use their product properly. RTFM.

pyrex is good for ovens and microwaves, where heating is more uniform. it even says so on the product labels (if you bother to read them).

their "extreme test" is not what the product is designed for, and if anything, misleads consumers into believing their product may be defective.

if i were the maker of pyrex, i'd be pissed.

Have you noticed, that you're arguing to yourself; "all cars are made in US....and...EVERYTHING made in China"....

I think, that in your point of view, cars are not EVERYTHING
....

If I bought pyrex I'd be pissed 😛

The other type didn't crack under those circumstances. Rather cut and dry IMO.

I see nothing wrong with stress testing cookware; after all, we’re on the very same forums where Prime95 and OCCT is expected to run for hours beyond spec. 😉

Interesting note from the Consumer's Report test, the decade's old borosilicate maintained its integrity at 500F, while the recently made one shattered. Therefore, it appears the cookware manufacturing quality has suffered as well.

I believe all Pyrex cookware manufactured beyond 1998 -- after Corning sold the company to World Kitchen, LLC. -- is no longer considered laboratory grade. Additionally my 50+ yo Pyrex has never shattered when dropped either.

Corning still makes Pyrex for lab stuff, AFAIK. Or rather lab pyrex is still borosilicate, not sure who makes it. They sold the consumer div. so some (most?) consumer stuff is soda lime now.

Come to think of it.. recent Pyrex beakers I've seen say made in Germany. So maybe Schott is making the lab stuff, whoever makes commercial, and Corning makes nothing now..?

anchor hocking cookware is cheaper. seems it too is tempered glass, as opposed to boro.
