Here is 2.26 @4.27GHz. I ran this from a 36GB Raptor.... There must be some extra quality features added to this version.... Something is making it slower than 1.96...

Hmmmm.... I think I may have found the slow-down in FPS:

[1/30/2006 7:21:22 AM] Color correction enabled.

That does not show-up in the 1.96 runs.... I will see if I can disable it... ;)

I can't even get 2.26 to run. When I try and start it it says AutoGK.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

On which box ? works fine on my X2 Opteron. I can try it on more boxes later.

on my X2..

edit: also doing the same thing on my 920..

when you guys installed it what options did you pick for the standalone?? and maybe I got a bad download or something even though it installs fine.

EDIT2: tried re-downloading, and re-installing, and still not working on either machine..

I just uninstalled 1.96, then installed 2.26, and installed everything.... You may want to download the K-Lite Codec Pack (Full). When installing, it should give you the option of uninstalling the DivX and XViD codecs that you currently have, and replacing them with the ones in the pack. (The same DivX 6.1.1) Go ahead and replace them. See if that works....

I downloaded AutoGK Assistant 1.1 to disable color correction in 2.26. Just place the .exe in the AutoGK program folder, start AutoGK, load the input/output files, press Ctrl+F9, and disable color correction.

It shaved some time off, but this version is still slower than 1.96... I assume it is due to better quality changes in the DivX codec...

Again, results @ 4.27GHz / color correction disabled:

Damn... I wonder what the issue is? You did install the K-Lite Codec Pack 2.69 FULL version correct? The others do not have encoding support. I would try running the AutoGK setup over the K-Lite pack and see what happens... (Just a suggestion)

I just installed divx from the other link in this thread. Now running with target as a 200 gig maxtor, read from a 60 gig, and running it on the dual opteron box with the scsi array

hey guys i would love to join in this thread and add my own slow Athlon 2500+ to this mix just to give everyone an idea of what performance difference they'll be seeing with a dual core vs older Socket A technology but sadly i don't have the LOTR DVDs maybe if someone could find a standard file that we could all DL and encode that was 100mb or so it'd make it easier for more ppl to join this lil benching experiment?
