I meant price wise, or even A-sync support wise.

Oh. I'm guessing it's going to carry a 150-200 dollar premium.

As for ASync support... that has me a little concerned, personally. AMD's whole lineup doesn't support it because it has hardware requisites not met by some of their GPUs. If Nvidia needs a new generation of GPUs to support it then I'm pretty much going to be locked into AMD GPUs for a while with my next monitor purchase.

I think it's a given that Nvidia will support it eventually, though.

Here's what Gibbo said:

Iiyama have asked us to remove the information for now until they can come up with a complete resolution and service for this.

If Iiyama make the worse decision and decide to not offer the service, we shall standby our customers who ordered one for the Freesync when it was advertised as such by simply taking the monitor back and swapping it for a Freesync edition or paying to have it upgraded ourselves.

The monitor can be upgraded, just that it's not clear if Iiyama want's to do it or not for free.

Richard Huddy said the same thing at CES2015 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7-jn07jy8I

It doesnt matter what Gibbo says. The stunt oc.uk made with the false advertising is already bad enough.

This is what the company says. And thats all that matters:

Steve Kilroy, Iiyama's senior account manager for the UK, hasn't heard of the FreeSync upgrade. The Overclockers UK listing is in error, he says.
Then you can jump up and down all you want and claim whatever you want. But oc.uk can just as well prepare themselves to replace any monitor sold as Freesync with one from the list below. Because as of today, they are the only ones that will support Freesync.

And we all know Richard Huddy is having a real hard time with the truth. So dont drag him into it.

Only Samsung can deliver an equal replacement product as of current. But those are PLS and AVHA panels that cost more than the TN.

You might want to reread that with an unbiased frame of mind. It does not say what you apparently think it does. It is still unclear by what he wrote on whether it would require new hardware or not, or even if firmware could upgrade it. It simply states 2 methods they might be able to make it right for people.

o_O High hz, IPS, Freesync... why so cheap compared to their crap TN with Gsync?!

Hmm, seems too good to be true.
Pretty sweet. If it hits 30hz on the low end, I don't know that anybody will need to look any further than this.

Sorry ShintaiDK, you're wrong. Just because a monitor isn't labeled "FreeSync" doesn't mean it's not capable of utilizing it. As already linked to in this thread, the ASUS MG279Q supports Adaptive-Sync, but isn't on that list.

Just a few points from what I've seen so far:
Freesync 11 monitors
G synk 1 monitor
Arguably same results but the AMD solution is adopted by almost all major manufacturers
Side by side comparisons are needed to come to a final conclusion

GS was released 18 months ago and monitor makers adoption rate is being very slow. FS not even on the market and the lineup is much more impressive.
On the other side we all have to thank NV for pushing this and making AMD react. Competition does wonders... No wonder the cpu world is almost stagnant

Agreed. I'm not sure where people are getting that it won't be widely adopted? They've already announced more models at first release than we have G-sync 18mos later. I also agree that it was nVidia that got the ball rolling with this.

I'm so sick of some of the posters on this website.

That is right. FreeSync is not even on the market.
nVidia announced G-Sync 15 months ago, demonstrated it 2.5 months later, first monitor 5 months after that. You could buy G-Sync monitors 7 months ago.

AMD announced FreeSync 12 months ago. Still no product in the shops.
As far as I know, nobody has had a FreeSync monitor yet. Nobody has been able to see it in action. Nobody has been able to compare it to G-Sync.

AMD was much more fast than Nvidia since Tom from Nvidia said in a intervew that when they announced Gsync they alredy was 2 years in the development.

So in 1 year AMD is doing the same as Nvidia in 3 years.

Yea and they sucked so what's the point? Not to mention you're a slave to Nvidia if you plan on taking advantage of the monitor, good for the Nvidia uber alles I guess. But the smart consumer waits for better choices, especially considering a monitor is something you're going to be using through many GPU upgrades.
