That's what really kills AMD. Having to use a subpair foundry and nodes for so much of their production. And not being able to do any real price negotiation. GloFo sits with all the cards against AMD. But that was the cost to avoid Chapter 11 back then. They picked wrong.

I didn't know they were still under that agreement.
2024... l didn't know it was that bad! GF is going to kill AMD's cpu division at this rate, even if Zen can be somewhat competitive.

I am guessing you guys already knew this, but it's news to me.

Advanced Micro Devices on Thursday revealed that it had signed a new wafer supply agreement (WSA) with GlobalFoundries for 2015. Based on the disclosed terms of the agreement, AMD will significantly reduce purchases from GlobalFoundries, which indicates that the company projects further declines of PC-related product shipments this year.
Under the terms of the new agreement, AMD expects wafer purchases from GlobalFoundries to be approximately $1 billion this year on a take-or-pay basis, which is a decline from 2014. Last year AMD planned to spend $1.2 billion on purchases from GlobalFoundries, but its actual purchases from the company in 2014 were approximately $1 billion due to lower fourth quarter purchases.

If Samsung weren't there, the lazy arabs were only trying to imitate the arab magic without any results. AMD is saved by Koreans and even by IBM

AMD is using it for higher GPUs.

The only reason AMD use 14LPP anywhere is the WSA. And that one first expires no sooner than March 2nd, 2024.

So AMD is using TSMC 16nm or GF 14nm for the next gen high end GPUs?

P.S. I am under the impression Fury is using GF 28nm, but the rest of the current GPU line-up is using TSMC 28nm.

Very funny forum. Everyone is arguing a person's position rather than technology or fact. Now I really understand why studying psychology is much more interesting in AT. I'd better be a bystander afterwards.D:
The word monomaniacal comes to mind.

Well, we haven't received any comment from AMD, so we can't say they are denying it. That's the point. It's not uncommon for companies like Intel and AMD to comment on these issues. And Reuters etc is no "cheapskate site". It's apparently credible enough for them to publish it. So calling it "baseless" like you did is outright ridiculous and in fact a lie.

Where did Reuters say that AMD is free to allocate wafers between Samsung and Globalfoundries at their will?

Zen will be here Q4 this year. But i am expecting that it won't hit the mainstream market until Q1 2017. K12 is originally planned to be released Q1 2016. It's delayed and then delayed again in favor of Zen. Then Zen itself is delayed, rather than Q2, Q4 becomes the released date.

10 years of incompetence and you are still surprised? :)

A chapter 11 restructuring back then would have given a much healthier company today.

But Chapter 11 wouldn't have allowed Hector Ruinz to enrich himself at AMD's expense.

AMD's board should have been removed for allowing Hector's blatant self-interest to rule the day.

Here are my Athlon x4 860K/GT730 GDDR5 Firestrike Results:

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/10105262

Score: 1493
GPU score: 1614
Physics score: 4439

And here is the Firestrike score for a stock A10-7870K with DDR3 2800 (edit: It was run at DDR3 2133 speeds for the test)

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/7270/amd-series-a10-7870k-kaveri-refresh-apu-review/index6.html

Score: 1351
GPU score: 1498
Physics score: 4902

So going by GPU score GT 730 GDDR5 is 7.7% faster than a 512sp iGPU @ 866 Mhz with DDR3 2800 2133. Now granted the Athlon x 4 860K CPU doesn't throttle, but I don't know how much that factors into this benchmark.

Here is my Firestrike score with the GT730 GDDR5 and Athlon x4 860K @ 2.8 Ghz:

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/10243597

Score: 1467
GPU score: 1614
Physics score: 3373

So the GPU score does remain unchanged despite the lower CPU clocks.

Seems that AMD will use SAMSUNG 14nm, which is vetter than the lazy arabs.

Is there ever going to be any kind of comeuppance for Hector Ruiz? I hate seeing greedy, selfish bastards like him ruin something that could have been so good.

He probably has no appreciation of what could have been, or what should have been, or what he killed before it could even be conceived, because of his own greed. This is a tragedy.

People like him make me volcanically angry. It's like a cross between pearls before swine and tragedy of the commons. I know looking back on the past won't change it; there is no sense in going diving in the Dirac Sea for lost timelines. But it still rankles.
