And *I* still like chocolate pudding! :)

I'm not using my 11-foot pole OR my flame-proof suit today, so if anyone needs to borrow one, just help yourselves :)

See, that's where the 11-foot pole comes in handy. :p

I'm gonna go with AMD. I'm just not sure of Intel at the moment. They seem to be all over the map right now. AMD however is gonna be launching its 64 3800+ soon so I'm all over that. Plus, prescott=yuck.

Amd certainly thanks you for always buying their cheapest chips and clocking the living crap out of them...They are thankful you are buying the chip they make the least amount of money on...IE bartons....If you love them so much buy their new line of chips and help them build up a coffer of moeny to advertise

LMAO, I did'nt know it was my responsibliy to give two sh1ts how much profit a company makes (unless I own thier stock). What I do know is, the more money I put into my bank account each month the earlier I can stop and smell the roses in life. AMD has done this for me the past four years .

As of late though, I would buy a 2.8 or 2.6 intel chip and clock the hell out of that too..oh how rich...just like you did;) I'm sure Intel thanks you.:)

Translation: I own AMD, now all I gotta do is try convince the rest of the world with my simplistic views. meh
The simplest way is always the best way.

but until those morons and yes they are morons start spending money to advertise their great product they will continue to only peck very slowly at the marketshare lead of INtel
Agreed.

Wake up and smell the craptacular reality. The mainstream chips are where they make most of their money from. And we have a right to OC them. My chip doesn't live under the worst conditions, so why shouldn't I make it work harder. They control the prices, they know what they are doing, most likely they loose more money with the big beefy chips than anything.

When Intel arrives with 64bit to the rest of the world (the masses) INtel will look like the bringer of 64 bit technology...I know that eats you amd boys up but you know it is true....

AMD wins around here!!!! AMD is still losing about everywhere else outside the tech forums.....Highly technical ppl make up a small precentage of computer buying ppl. BIY's make up a small amount, and since INtel dominants in prebuilt systems ad the number of manufacturers building prebuilt systems once again AMD great advances are basicaly unnoticed...
And this is why we push harder, because we don't need idiots taking credit that they don't deserve.

These are big companies guys, they can handle themselves. Besides, they have it fully within their power to eliminate overclocking altogether.
Very true.

I am fairly certain that Jeff is not a hot female.
Idk... Jeffina.... what do you think?

What happens to Intel and AMD will be the same that has happened in the past. Intel will come out with something better next year, remain on top for a couple years, then get beat out by AMD again.

This goes in cycles.

However, 1 fact will always be true:
Anybody discounting either side is an idiot.

Consumer = winner.

AMD and Intel NEED each other. I am starting to think they are the same company. Besides, lets all hope that neither of them win.

Duvie, you sure know little about the feature you trumpet to everyone. Hyperthreading exists because of the long pipeline of the P4. It helps keep the execution units busy by keeping the long pipeline full. On non-hyperthreaded P4s, the execution units sat idle for up to 20 cycles when there was a cache miss. If there is a cache miss on a HT enabled P4, the execution units work on another thread while it waits for the data of the first thread to come back from memory or elsewhere.

The reason why it would make no sense to have HT on a 12 stage pipeline CPU (ie Athlon 64) is because it takes less time to fill the shorter pipeline if there is a cache miss.

And we need them both. I hope to only have to imagine what one would be like without the other.
