Netburst may stink on a value/efficiency basis but Pentium M/Centrino was extremely successful. Even then, Netburst was in the ballgame up until Athlon 64 started shipping in volume.Originally posted by: bennylong
There goes AMD relationship with Nvidia. I think AMD is in panic mode with Conroe coming out and Intel finally on the comeback after 5 years of crappy products

why buy the crappy graphics card manufacturer?
Maybe they'll overhaul ATI so they produce drivers which don't suck?![]()

Hmmm I don't know if it is good or bad, but I voted yes since it seems like they can work together to produce a better gaming rig overall.
Not keen on ATIs drivers at the moment so that is about the only neg with ATI.

Just 2 weeks ago, AMD CEO said they would never merge with ATI when the rumor started floating, because it would ruin their relationship with Nvidia.
Guess you can't better anything those CEO say!

ATI will be up because AMD is going to pay a premium. AMD will be down for the same reason. 70% of all M/A activity destroys shareholder value. This is going to do the exact same thing.
AMD is a paper tiger compared to INTC and the stock price is supported by market stupidity.

on average, the gains from the takeover (at least in hostile takeovers) are paid to the tendering shareholders in the form of takeover premium (which averages 50%)

Most of the Conroes are all outperforming the FX-62. The 2.4 E660 smokes the 2.8 FX-62 in most benchmarks.
You are showing gaming ONLY. Guess what, 85% of the population doesn't sit around and game! Why not represent the chips as a whole, not a select set of benches.
The Conroe is an awesome little chip and I'll be purchasing one to replace my 3200+ when they are out.
