In a mini-PC:

I'm not impressed for gaming. He's running most games at 1080p medium and still needs FSR to get over 60 FPS.

It looks like it cost more than my PC I built with an RTX 4070 last year.
Is that a video on strix halo ?

As a pure iGPU yes, but compared to dGPU It's mediocre.

Says who? AMD stated cTDP is 120W.
At best you can say It's not worth the worse power efficiency, but It should still scale, If not the iGPU because of BW then at least the CPU.
How is it mediocre compared to a dGPU? I'm genuinely interested because it looks pretty damn good to me. Being within 5% of the 4070m at the same power level SoC vs SoC means it's actually within 5% at a lower power budget for the GPU portion.

It's really good compared to dGFX too.
It's only 4070m level of performance. Compared to the CPU It's mediocre in my opinion.
Just your opinion as I posted my own, but feel free to post data showing I am wrong.
AMD stated Raphael needs 230W PPT and sure as hell it didn't. Next.

it does not.

Not that either.
Stock R9 9950X has no problem consuming 220W in blender according to TPU, 5.2GHz all-core OC consumes 266W. Strix Halo has basically the same CPU part(16C Zen5) so there is no reason why It can't scale past 100W in something like blender.

That's where it should be, anything above doesn't sell.

There are scaling data from the glorious China a few pages and you can clearly see. Only have to scroll up.

That's because it has 2 times the FP oomph gen over gen.
I'm talking Raphael. Zen4 part, you know.

Blender is HIP-RT accelerated.
It's an APU too so your VRAM is arbitrary. Pile on assets!

I am talking about performance here and not about If It sells or not.

Yeah, I am looking at It and I clearly see the CPU scales even past 120W.

Strix Halo has Zen5, right? So I don't understand why you bring up Zen4 Raphael instead of Zen5 Granite Ridge.

The perf is where it should be.

That's not scaling, that's watts into the pyre for no reason.

Because rated PPTs are a stretch goal.

That's really good performance. It's matching a 7950X at only 125W. My 7950X only scores 33K running in eco mode capped to 140w PPT.

The iGPU is alright. I still think it could be membw bound. The 395 has more than 2X the CUs as the HX370, but isn't 2X the FPS.

Pricing in Australia is WACK and no 128 GB model in Australia but who cares it will be $5000+AUD.

Looks like this SoC will be limited again production wise in countries other than the USA and China.

I would wait to see what HP will charge for their Z2 Mini G1a. Seems they have a decent chunk of copper in there as well as two fans...

Also nope, max perf/W will be a MoP'd wider LPDDR.

Capacity sucks, pop options suck.
The sooner you forget about HBM like a bad dream, the merrier.
It's never gonna be alive outside of HPC.

How much wider? AMD is already using dual channel, 32 bit x 8 chips.

I guess somebody could make quad channel, 64 bit, and then, 8 x 64 would be 512 bits.

"Poor performance"?

It is within 5% of the 4070m at "equal" power - 60w package power vs 60w package power or 80W vs 80W. "Equal" power, as in Strix Halo includes both CPU and GPU, whereas 4070m is dGPU only.

There is no world where this is "poor performance".
You are missing what I said. I said "Desktop" APU. To get the highest iGPU SKU, you also need to pay for the highest CPU config. And it is poor performance.
It shows that you cannot compare the Z13's pricing to those aforementioned bargain bin 4070 devices and claim Strix Halo is far too expensive to make sense.
It also doesn't show what actual price could be versus inflated one because Nvidia has near zero competition.

Both above points are related. They aren't giving you a deal on the 8000G APU with a lowly iGPU, and their RDNA GPU prices aren't fantastic and just slightly below "evil Nvidia", so why would they price this so low?
