Hello gentlemen,

I am trying another overclock but having probs. Still using same Sempron 3100+ but I put in two 512 sticks of Mushkin Performance PC3200 (2-3-3). But after doing so, any overclocking is just about useless as I am getting resets. Could ya throw some settings for me to try? Thanks in advance.

Has anyone had any problems with random shutdowns with the ECS NF3 board?

I ordered the combo a few months ago for a friend, and we finally got around to building the system over the holiday weekend.

ECS Nforce3 board
Sempron 3100+ (not overclocked)
2x512mb Crucial ValueRAM (set to Auto in the BIOS...2T is fine)
9500 Pro
Kingwin 350W PSU

The processor idles in the lower 30's, and the shutdowns are completely random, so I know it's not a heat issue. The voltage readings in the BIOS seem stable and this particular PSU had fairly good reviews.

Post in GH Here

We're not pushing the system to the limit and just want it stable at the stock speed.

Any ideas?

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I successfully flashed the bios in a computer built for a friend using the ISO that was linked in this thread. Can see FSB up to 320, but haven't tried doing any OC'ing since the BIOS swap. Did a fresh install of windows and it is working just fine without any tweaking. Will report back with OC results if I think of it...

Use a memory divider.

Set FSB (HTT) to 240 and x3.
Up the voltage for CPU +1 or +3%
Set memory divider of 166.

You should be good to go.

Hi, I am an electrician who has decided to build my own system, so when I started following this ecs combo topic I finally decided to purchase one.
I recieved it last thursday and decided to put it together but I am having a problem. My system consist of ecs combo 3100+, 2 512 pc3200, maxtor 120g,aiw 9600 agp card. Installed everything and power on but I anm getting an error saying a file is missing or currupt, I cannot do a repair because it hangs up.
The hard drive works ok on my son's pc.

Wipe the HDD and CLEAN INSTALL Windows. Make sure you update the BIOS to the latest version at the ECS website. Reset CMOS. Connect the HDD as the Primary Master drive (jumper set to MASTER).

This may be an obvious question but do you have an operating system installed on the hard drive?

Any other brave souls try this bios?

Posted in case this deal comes back to life.

I have issues with this board now after a few months - onboard nic developed issues from nowhere (didnt monkey at all with it and it was working fine, then random disconnects and issues with p2p programs) and the mobo loses time - replaced cmos battery - didnt fix it - both the ECS and Biostar nf3 boards seem to sometimes share the issue from what I've picked up - but if it didnt develop these problems, it'd be a great deal. Overclocked pretty good.

No more ECS combos for me. Next build is PCIe & a different manufacturer. For budget I've had much better luck with Asrock. I might have given the ECS nf4 board a chance but not now.

Wow, I am surprised to see this thread is still going. I guess it is because of the almost-weekly combo deal now down to $70.
My two home systems both based on ECS MBs are running almost non-stop since I put them together. I am running them at 240 FSB so I don't need to bump up the vcore voltage.
I know it is boring to run these systems at almost "stock" but I don't want to lose/corrupt data on these systems. They run fast enough for what they were intended for.

I got these systems intending to replace the MBs, but they have been running just "fine" at these speed.
The two systems are:
Sempron 3100 & ECS NF3 (1GB RAM) running MCE2005. This is my Video/Audio/Tivo server.
Athlon64x2 3800 & ECS NF4 (2GB) running WinXP/XPx64/Vista/Ubuntu64 (multiboot). This is my daily all-purpose system.

Yes, and it works fine. More overclocking options with max htt of 320.

I found an as yet unadvertised ECS NFORCE3-A combo with a 2800+ 90nm soi boxed chip on sale for $59.98 'til 6/27 at Frys Anaheim - and other stores/regions, I assume. It was in the store computer on thursday. When I asked for another advertised combo for $59, the clerk pulled this one up, good to 6/27.

Mine loses time also.. every 2 or 3 weeks or so i have to update it... this is particularly annoying since i use the rig with MCE to record TV.

Word of WARNING! It's my understanding that ECS is made by SOYO, who screwed a lot of people out of $75 rebates on a motherboard that was bad to begin with, including me. I would NOT buy anything from SOYO or ECS!

Why is this thread still in hot deals? It seems to have turned into a tech support thread... At least the OP should edit the title to show that the deal is dead.

Nope. ECS definately makes their own boards. ECS also makes boards for other companies. Maybe it's the other way around?

The Wednesday ad for the Chicago Fry's has this combo for a spankin' $59.99!!! I don't even need it but if Fry's were closer than 1½ hours away I'd go get one.
