I think better support in the BIOS for higher clocked memory will help the latency a little bit.
Because when I was running the Memory at 2666 CL15 Mhz I got Latency around 94 ns. Then when I tried 2933 I got latency 88 ns. I am thinking with 3200 it could be 84 ns. I will try this, hopefully it will POST. :p
Do you honestly think you'll notice the difference between 88 and 84 nanoseconds of memory latency? Unless BIOS fixes bring this down to Intel levels (i.e. ~40-50ns), this isn't actually fixing anything.

I never allude anything to that.

But I am interested to see what higher clocked low latency kits would yield. Except that these kits would cost more than the processor.

Any thoughts on the best way to mount the water block on the CPU? With it going side to side or up and down for the water inlet and exit. I can remember on HEDT boards it was best to go bottom to top. On the Z series boards side to side produced the best results.

Thanks to der8auer, we know the direction of the dies relative to the little triangle on the PCB. I can't quite tell from motherboard pictures, but what I think I see is right, the cores are aligned vertically (i.e. parallel to the RAM slots) along the middle of the chip. I guess you'd want to align your cold plate likewise?

My board won't be here until next Wednesday or so. I'm running a XSPC Raystorm block. I will also mount inlet at the bottom and outlet at the top.

Got my Gigabyte B350M Gaming 3 board in from Newegg today. My Corsair Air 240 from Amazon will be here tomorrow. Now if my 1700 will surprise me tomorrow or Monday I'll be real excited.

Ugh... I'm super annoyed with myself! Before I took out my 5820k I rendered out a project in Premiere to get a baseline. I didn't realize that project file was sitting on my C drive and not on my RAID with the rest of my project files. That project file is gone with the old windows install I blew away to install Zyzen freash.

Rookie stuff!

Wow, I just had something crazy happen and wanted to share.

I was frustrated with some Trident Z RAM rated for 3200 that I couldn't get to run past 2400. It's a 16GB kit, 2 x 8GB. I stopped by my local Micro Center and noticed some "open box" G.Skill 3000 ram for $79.99 so I took a risk and bought it. It a 16GB kit, 2 x 8GB. Full normal price is $99.99 and Micro Center has lots of it in stock.

Just popped it in my cheap Asus Prime B350-Plus, went into the bios and picked DOCP. It set the RAM for 2933 and I sort of chuckled thinking for sure it would lock up, but I hit save and tried it anyway. I was shocked when it booted to windows no problem. This ram is single sided, so probably single rank, and has stickers, no heat spreaders. I kid you not. It's cheap in every sense of the word, but taking a risk paid off.

Here is the link: http://www.microcenter.com/product/474187/16GB_8GB_x_2_DDR4-3000_PC4-24000_Desktop_Memory_Kit

Microcenter's site has the part number wrong, they missed the dashes. Here is the link to the G.Skill page that has correct part number and more info: http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f4-3000c16d-16gisb

YEEESSSSSSSSSS!! My motherboard just shipped out. Says I will get it Wed via Fed-Ex again.Well that's the way my cpu came hence the again.Anyways, wish I could get a hold of one of those Wraith Max Coolers. A little worried about using a 10lbs Phanteks twin tower 14PE cooler.LOL I know is not 10lbs but its pretty darn heavy and bulky.Any one actually get a Wraith Max cooler they wanna part with?? Or maybe Lisa Su could help me get access to one if she ever reads these forums?? Not asking for a hand out, I'm willing to pay!! :)

Seeing that BIOS update issue for Asus boards. I did a manual download of the file and started the update using EZ Update. It was pretty quick at first but has slowed to a crawl at ~1/3 progress.

Going to let it bake overnight and see how it looks in the morning.

All the talk of Chinese new year. We have people even working Christmas here in gas stations and 7-11's. New year is ONE day here. Thats the motherboard makers fault. And demand ? we on the forums knew it would be substantial, why are they so clueless ? We have no insiders in AMD like they do.
Chinese New Year is a *BIG* deal there. There isn't a western comparison. Everything shuts down.

Your cooler looks like it's backwards.
You can put the fans on either side, I purposely wanted them on the opposite sides pulling air, to give me clearance for RAM. It's easy to change them around.

There is not much point in OCing an 1800X so this should be optimal for stock settings. But we'll see.

Cool. No personal experience with those coolers. It can't be as effective as pushing air can it, but effective enough?

It's probably more effective pushing air than pulling (the way I have it) but I wanted to try pulling.. I might change it depending on performance. We'll see.

Noctua fan mounting system makes it really easy to change it around. This is my first Noctua cooler but I'm in love.

Sigh... I am going to hold out for the taichi.
I was going to wait for the Taichi mobo too, but Newegg got a new shipment of the Asus motherboards this morning and after yesterdays feasco....,I felt heart broken all night last night not being able to get that one Asus mobo after who ever canceled there order for me to allow me to buy one, I took it as a sign that this was my time and it was meant to be.So soon as the add to cart button turned orange I click that sucker so fast it would make your head spin LOL.Now i just gotta hope that it works when it gets here.Dwelling on the cooling solution at this moment in time.

Just purchased the MSI tomahawk 350 board. I'm going to put 64gb of 3000mhz ram in. Pretty excited :)
Holy moly.... your gonna spend $500 just on ram? What the heck do you need 64gb for?I had 32gb's and couldn't get all my programs at once to max out more then 12gb's of the 32gb.I think windows forced page filing or something like that to.
