This is getting way out of hand....AMD Ryzen 5000 series????

I recently bought an AMD Ryzen 3700X...good grief.

The numbering might be throwing you off because there's no 4000 series for the non-APU desktop parts, so these are the direct successor to the 3000-series chips that you just bought. Most companies come out with some new product ever 12 - 18 months, so it's hardly surprising that AMD would have new chips (or even just rebranded stuff if there weren't all new chips) at some point. The 3700x launched well over a year ago, so if you only bought one just recently you did so towards the end of the lifecycle for the product.

Which MB was it? What issues? I've had good luck with my MSI MB. Only issue I could complain about is loosing my 3800MHz memory overclock with the last 3-4 uEFI versions. No go on the 1900 FCLK anymore for some reason or another. Not sure what they changed, but never gave much effort to seeing if I could get it going again. It'll boot up fine, but it's not stable at all.
MSI x570 Gaming A-Pro, first it was intermittent crashing, then it wouldnt boot at all. After sending it back in for RMA, they did no real testing whatsoever (time into repair shop to time out of repair shop was like 20 minutes) except to update BIOS. Of course, I had already updated BIOS and put that in the RMA notes. Predictably, when it came back from RMA I got a different USB overcurrent problem and still no boot. There's clearly some kind of power delivery defect but it has been immensely frustrating to solve.

MSI customer service is infamously bad. Their early x570 boards had VRMs that could not handle a 3900X at stock as well. I think the one you got is one of the ones that had inadequate VRMs, IIRC.

Anyone else started buying parts for their 5000 build yet they care to share or is everyone waiting for reviews first? I'm still debating on either a 850 or 1000w psu(little more future proofing for the psu).

I have all the parts, just need processor :)
Simple upgrade from 3900XT, MSI X570 MEG Unify, 32GB B-Die 3600 (4x8), 1000W BeQuiet, 1TB NVME 4.0 + 1TB NVME 3.0 + 4TB + 2TB HDD and some WC Radeon VII (soon to be replaced with RDNA2).

I'm somewhat out of the loop, but no new motherboards being released even if just a V2 X570 update? Thinking of getting the motherboard and RAM purchase out of the way before launch.

It'll take a bios update, so look carefully at the motherboard to make sure it has the bios it needs.

I just picked-up a MSI MEG X570 Unify last week. Good mobo and good BIOS... I ended up firing it up with my old Ryzen 7 1700 and it's unbelievably working well, and after playing with memory settings I was able to reach the same memory OC as with my previous Asus B450I.
I am afraid to update the BIOS now a loose Zen1 support so I will wait until I can get my hands on a Zen3 before updating.

You get a Fan!

On a serious note, more PCIe 4.0, pretty much all major slots and NVMe are 4.0 capable.

Other than that, not much else worth mentioning.

Ugh, had that tiny fan on my nahalem board, so loud and annoying!
I barely know what the 4.0 this are but seriously doubt anything I have is bandwidth bound. Def not my rx470, lol. So yeah don't sound like much reason to go x570.

what's the reason for choosing a x570 mobo over a B550? I'm not seeing much reason for the X, what am I missing?

If you have a lot of storage, B550 won't cut it.
On most B550 boards, the m.2 slots share PCI-e lanes with SATA ports. If you populate a m.2 slot, you lose SATA ports.
That is not an issue with X570, you can populate all the m.2 slots and still keep the SATA ports.

On the other hand, most of the B550 boards have 2.5G ethernet. Most X570 are still on Gb ethernet.

Ok, good to know. Shouldn't be a problem, just have an SSD and single HDD, and a DVD drive for some reason.. I think most mATX b550 have at least 4-5 SATA, which is plenty.
(i have a server for storage of course, I'm not a peasant..)

edit: checked some boards, and looks like using m.2 slot disable 2 sata slots. So with a 6 sata board would have 4 sata plus m.2. Since I'd replace the SSD with m.2 still not a big deal for me as HDD, DVD and two more open is more than enough.

Seasonic PX 850 ordered. One thing If the Asus Crosshair dark Hero doesnt go on sale before or the day of the cpu release I'm going to throw a fit lol.
Side note I thought I read somewhere that ddr4000 might be the sweet spot for Ryzen 5000. If it is do you think there would be much of a difference If i got something like ddr4 3800?

As some said before it's basically because of expansion (M2 PCIE4.0 slots and actual PCIE4.0 slots). I have a 10G NIC and two M2 SSDs (soon to add one more PCIE4.0 drive, just waiting for the new Phison or Silicon Motion products).
My MSI board has a chipset fan but it's always turned off and the chipset doesn't go over 50 celsius even on this passive mode. Fan is PWM, controlled by the BIOS (can have the curve manually adjusted). So noise is really a non-issue!

Just picked up a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB SSD and a Gigabyte Aorus B550 Pro. All that's left is to choose a cooler and then wait for the CPUs to hit shelves and I'm in business. I am going to select the Ryzen 5 5600X, so I don't necessarily need a massive cooler, even with some anticipated mild overclocking, but I'm considering anything between a Be Quiet! dark rock 4 and Noctua nh-d15. Mostly looking for something performant and quiet. Any recommendations on a cooler?

Yep ! Started to get parts in over the past week for a new build

Brought
Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Case
Corsair RM850x PSU
1TB Samsung 980 Pro
Lian Li Galahad 360 AIO (will install in front of case)
Logitech G815 Keyboard

Need
5900X
Motherboard (B550 or X570)
GPU (Probably will be a 6800XT or 6900XT)
32GB Ram (probably DDR4000)

Kind of undecided on the motherboard
I need for it:
a 2.5Gb LAN (yes I have that fast at home)
PCIe 4.0 (One for GPU and a x4 for the NVMe)
Min 5 USB at back IO

B550 Options
ROG Strix B550-F (maybe the XE new one coming out)
MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk
Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro

X570 Options (doesn't need to be super high end just good VRMs)
MSI Mag X570 Tomahawk
- Undecided
- Undecided

Right now just thinking of getting the RoG B550-F in as it covers needs

For RAM
Would like some RGB preferably DDR 4000 or whatever the best fit is for the new Zen CPUs, I hear the sweet spot is around there so TBD

You guys think I should go with a B550 board?
