For me, there is no way for me to justify the cost on some of the Samsung B-Die memory kits out there for some ePeen synthetic benchmark numbers that translate to nothing in real world usage. I have the G Skill Trident Neo Kits with the Hynix memory in them. 3600 CL 16-19-19-38. I can push it to CL 16-16-16-35 but not any further. Even then I get barely any score increase in my benchmarks. I bought my kits when they were $150 a pop and now the same kits go for $210. The Samsung kits are like $300+ish when last I checked. The price to performance gain for those isn't worth it to me or in my opinion anyone really. GOOD Memory prices for the ryzen builds are not dropping at all compared to other memory. They are going up in fact.

Your build has a cpu that was $750 last year and you have a $1500+ 3090 I don't see the big deal in buying high quality memory when you obviously have the bugdet for those other items. But to each his own.

Well, I wasn't wanting to buy the 3090 originally. However, I stumbled upon one with a price too good to be true. It ended up true and I bought it. $1600 for as a local buy from a guy that used the card for some benchmarks on it for a little bit before selling. He sold it literally less than what he paid for it. For the rest of my computer, I got good deals there too like my 3950x. I tend to try not buying parts unless I am getting good deals or buying the best bang for the buck performance part out there. The Hynix version of the NEOs I own for example aren't that far behind the Samsung B-Die kits for the capacity that I was looking for in terms of performance. In terms of real gaming performance, it might net me a 1 extra FPS or 2 at most in games really. I can't justify the hundreds of cost increase for that. There are noticeable differences though with better CPU and GPU products though. While I do tweak a bit and sometimes overclock on occasion, the need for overclocking isn't like it used to be. The noticeable performance gains most of the time are not there. It is cool and all to fiddle with it a bit, but as a father of 3 young kids, I don't have that kind of time anymore.

So i have finally updated my crosshair viii hero to bios 3204.
No major changes compared to bios 3003 other than i don't need to run with cpu +voltage offset anymore and UBS ports are alittle less buggy with the hp reverb g2 vr headset.

Have seen alot of talk about the OCCT "large data set" stresstest in regards to WHEA errors and how hard it was to run error-free, so i decided to give it a run :)

Completed without any errors on my 24/7 settings, which are: (fans on auto)

-30 allcore curve optimizer
4x8gigabyte samsung b-die @ 1900/3800mhz 1:1 with the infinity fabric.
This is my bloaty gaming windows, so latency are alittle on the high side.

That's weird, it's not listed as a beta for the Hero or Dark Hero...

The other Asus boards must be one iteration behind, 3202 was the beta version for the hero/dark hero and 3204 is the final version.

Hmm 3204 is finale for the VIII Hero..


All the other beta bioses are removed, such as:
3101
3103
3201
etc

As the screenshot shows (dram) i'm running 1.536-1.544volts on my active cooled b-die

Since that is their highest tier board I guess they pushed it out first. The non dark version of that board cost $500 CAD.

3204 from what I can see on the site is listed as beta for the rest of the boards.

And hmm ya that alot volts active cooling required for sure.

I have a 5800x and I'm wondering if it is normal for it to be running at slightly over 4.1 GHz all-core during Prime95 v30.3 (small FFT test), and slightly over 4.5 GHz all-core during Cinebench R20 multicore test. Also the all-core CPU VID during Prime95 v30.3 (small FFT test) is lower than the all-core CPU VID during Cinebench R20 on my 5800x which may play a huge part for the higher CPU temperatures in Cinebench R20 than Prime95 v30.3 on my CPU.

I just built a small system for 'look dev' using maya and substance painter and a few other programs, instead of the 3960x workstation I also have (which I use for Houdini sims and photogrammetry), very impressed, got it in the UK for £380, and its pretty damn fast. 29932 on passmark.
Ram is slowing me down, its rated for 3200mhz, but cannot get system stable over 2666mhz. Bought it before I bought motherboard and its not on the QVL which i s a pain as its 128gb. might have to sell it and go for 64gb @ 4000mhz. I am watching ram usage whilst working on this system, and its not hitting 64gb so makes sense I guess. motherboard is MSI x570 tomahawk.

I think you might be confused.
If you have " SET " your multiplier value + FSB --- you will have an " all core " overclock .

The description of the behavior you say looks like " Boost " mode.
Boost will vary in " Boost " score depending on the highest core recorded.
Boost mode frequency high scores vary in Benchmark tests.

Prime95 uses a " formula " to select a maximum FSB in Boost mode
An " all core " would override this ...

Temperature is test dependent also.
If your looking for a maximum temperature -- I recommend the
Handbrake benchmark in this forum.

This version went thru 2 published Betas
( D1 - Support AMD SAM(SMART ACCESS MEMORY) function

IF1933 still has WHEA errors
IF2000 also has WHEA ---> ( fails 3Dmark now )

My BIOS screen still has missing current voltage values.
( for this chip )

The additional overhead I saw in the Beta D2 with IF1933 is not in the final BIOS.
But, it seems to have moved to IF1900.
I gladly accept this, and done for now until another BIOS release.

Making backups now ... curious to see if the WHEAs are gone ...
MSI dropped the 1.2.0.0 for my x570 MB recently, but I haven't tried it yet. Looks like it went straight to official on my MB as I never saw any beta versions listed. I might give it a whirl later tonight after I get playing around with my rig.

Been trying to top the #1 5600x/6800 score in Time Spy today with some trial and error configs....I'm getting really close, but coming up a little short so far.

GPU stopped scaling with clocks it looked like, but playing with the curve optimizers - offsets on a few cores bumped me over the threshold.

Just updated to the latest MSI x570 ComboAM4PIV2 1.2.0.0 uEFI and like the last version it won't boot up at 3800/1900 for some reason with my 5600x.

No issue booting up at 3866/1933 so I guess I'll play around with it and see how the WHEA error situation unravels.

I'm 6th now.

7th place 5900x CPU score on air
I'm expecting to be pushed down the list soon.

You've gotta get with the benchmarking hacks.. I mean 'optimizations'. Probably could squeeze out 100-200 extra graphics points with a few key optimizations.

This is my everyday OC.
My 2070 gets a few more points at the speeds the others are using. ( mem and core )
But, those fail at normal gameplay.

The key benchmarking optimizations don't involve further overclocking 😉

Where do you see it? It’s still 3402 when I look which was trash for me. I’ve been looking forward to trying a non-beta 1.2.0.0.
