Has AMD commented about availability of the new 5000 series processors? Should it be better than the last time?

Here in Czechia at launch only 1 retailer had them in stock, 5950X and 5900X went quickly, 5800X and 5600X held a little bit longer but in about half an hour all were gone. None to be seen anywhere now.

That is, what, 6 months to broad availability for Vermeer? That is one hell of a demand spike. I can only imagine what Raphael will be like.

I would reluctantly buy the 5800X at MicroCenter for $400 and probably throw up in my mouth a little afterward if I was still in the market, but I wouldn't pay more than that. It's a lot for an 8 core CPU these days considering what you can get for under $300. I don't know, I might still just go with a 10700K for $250. That's still a crazy good deal.

LOL, it is the 8c/16t halo product from AMD that beats Intel's former 10c/20t halo the 10900K; looks like more W's than L's in the comparo, JFC the cognitive dissonance around the 5800X is amazing.

5800X vs 10900K

10 and 11 series K model 8 and 10 core prices don't look that great compared to a $400-$430 5800X...

How about a nice 1200 LGA motherboard? Starts at $180, lol.

A nice B550 starts at $140.

Microcenter looks to have another restock, but no 5900x's.

5600x $280
5800x $400
5950x's MSRP $800

I guess if you need a MB you save another $20

For some unknown reasoning there still is no reserve option on AMD's latest while you can reserve the newest offerings from Intel?

Overland Park, KS Micro Center still has 9 (as of 11am CST) 5900X in stock at MSRP of $550. Rest are listed as you have them with 25+ in stock for each. They've been selling about 10 a day of the 5900X, so they might not last the day, and definitely not the weekend.

Got my 10850k and z590 Aorus Elite AX for $580 out the door from MC. 5800x is overpriced.

Please refrain from that style of posting. I am only going to ask once.

LOL, enjoy the slower PC :)

Take Micro Center specials out of the discourse, and the whole "5800X is overpriced" falls apart.

Also, someone really needs to explain how the 5800X, which IS FASTER IN GAMING THAN THE 10850K, is overpriced, when the 9900K was never considered "overpriced" when it was faster in gaming than the 3800X / 3800XT; this whole line of 5800X negativism is mind boggling.

3800XT vs 9900K

I keep wondering if the lack of availability of the 5900X is simply due to greater demand for the part or the fact that they need two chiplets with defective cores for this part and now that yields are better there are less defective parts? Or of course a combination of both factors.

That makes sense. If the 5950X's are moving why would/should they pass on that ~200 bucks.

I just entered the Newegg shuffle for a 5950x and the results are supposed to be made known in around 90 minutes. I figure that their $30 over msrp is less than me getting into the car and driving 5 hours to the Atlanta MC to get one.

5950x + rx 6900 xt will give me best performance and enable SAM on my x570 mb.

Good luck. It's about the only thing that has a somewhat reasonable price.

Looks more like the Newegg hustle when it comes to GPU prices....My Asrock Taichi 6800 XT is currently in this one with a monster $1299 price tag before the bundled item!

When I got my XFX Speedster MERC 319 RX 6900 XT Black from BB in February it was the highest card available in the tech drop I managed to get in on so I grabbed it for $1499 plus tax. I applied $90 in rewards points against which made it more bearable.

I'd much rather have dropped a rtx 3090 into my cart at that price but none were to be had. The next card in the mix was a 3070 for over $800 and that wasn't going to happen.

I'm still waiting for the shuffle results with fingers crossed. :eek:o_O

I didn't make the shuffle. To Atlanta or not to Atlanta is the question now?

How badly do you want a Zen3? Do you like road trips? Do you have someone to go with? Is there something else fun to do after you get your computer l00t?

Last weekend, the wife and kid went with me and we went to a micro-brewery after that had outside seating, so, new l00t and a delicious draft beer, was not too shabby.
