Alright, so we've had some leaks so far. I don't know if any of it's been confirmed yet, as it's pretty early, but here is what I've surmised so far (massive grain of salt of course):

If if turns out to have RDNA 2 and 12 CU, I could see iGPU performance potentially almost doubling over Cezanne.

If I've made any mistakes or gotten anything wrong, please let me know. I'd also love to hear more knowledgeable people weigh in on their expectations.

Doesn't have USB4/TB4 at that price, and Lenovo charging ports are prone to breaking. Besides that, ThinkPads are no longer worth the premium. Also, Lenovo's lead times in my country are atrocious, so it's a pass from me.
its not optimal consider lenovo has listed ships in 3+ months !!! but this is the 1st Rembrandt U deal I have seen. Hopefully this is just a beginning. We see Dell/Asus/Acer/HP etc also bring in deals at reasonable price. I am hoping for 6600U at sub $700.

personally i am looking for a 6800u with a 1080p screen, 16GB DDR56400 & 512GB for under $1,000 from acer/hp or lenovo. just hope something like this will be available by the end of 2022.

Looking at availability in Germany. Currently available U series Rembrandt laptops are all of the PRO kind, targeting corporate audience. HP has much better availability with those while Lenovo doesn't appear to have its supply chain under control.

Here are 6 offers matching your tech preference, two of them available from HP. They just cost more than double than you want to pay. :p I'd expect that to improve as soon as non-PRO U series laptops launch for consumers instead corporate customers. I'd wish that to happen well before the end of the year, but hard to say given the current circumstances.

Dunno, even getting an Alder Lake LPDDR5 laptop under a grand right now is hard.

By the end of the year OP will want Phoenix too.

Hm, looks like you are onto something. LPDDR5 laptops under a grand just don't exist here indeed.

That will start a whole new circle. Announcement and "launch to ODMs" in January. Some increasing but sparse open market availability by summer. Better offers only closer to the end of the year. Should be easy to get a great deal on Rembrandt in summer next year though. :p

along with being so expensive they also are not available in the US right now. also, only one is a 16" with the others being 14" or less-too small for my tastes. hope you are correct about the non-pro 6800U's being more reasonably priced.

I didn't realize that ODMs were such a force with laptops. Are there corporate buyers getting thousands of these things before the open market sees anything?

Afaik there are no solid public numbers, but common estimations are that the business/enterprise laptop market is around half of the total laptop market. Combined with higher ASP and more sales per customer, furthermore often combined with long term service contracts, it should be obvious why enterprise customers would be treated preferably to open market consumers.

*shakes fist at The Man*

At least now it's easier to guess at the fate of many of the 1H 2022 Rembrandt and 1H 2021 Cezanne APUs.

As a part of one of those large organizations, we purchase these laptops in lots of 1000+. However, what we get is rarely bleeding edge. Instead, these are bundles with long support life components in stable configurations. Leading edge performance is rarely a concern, and the integrated GPU in the processor means absolutely nothing to the buyers.

I'd say it's even higher than that, if you throw in like Government and Education. Like 70%.
May very well be the case, especially considering the pandemic situation in the last couple years. As I said it's hard to get hard data, what I found are mostly rather sketchy studies from before that point.

Indeed. We have to keep in mind though that bleeding edge is also only a little part of the whole market volume at a given time, with older gens delivering all the rest. So I'd guess (corporate and institutional) demand and supply tend to balance out in that regard.

Any estimate how much faster the
6600U 6CU RDNA2
is than the
5600U 7CU Vega?

I haven't been able to find benchmarks.

Not sure about U parts, but some estimates look like:

6600H w/ LPDDR-6400 is ~36% faster than 5600HS w/ LPDDR4-4266,
also:
~48,5% faster than 4800U w/ LPDDR4-4266
~31% faster than 5800U w/LPDDR4-4266
~22% faster than 5900HS w/LPDDR4-4266
~17,5% faster than 1165G7 w/LPDDR4-4266

All in all the Radeon 660M (all Ryzen 5 6000s) looks like the second-fastest integrated graphics out there, only second to it's bigger brother, Radeon 680M (either 2,2 or 2,4GHz Ryzen 7/9 variants).

Note: 6600H/660M w/ LPDDR5-6400 @ 54W seems to only boost gaming performance by ~11% vs 25W config, as opposed to 6800H were it goes up ~43%.
Not sure at what power settings either of the Ryzen 4000, 5000 or Tiger Lake were tested at (possibly @ the best performing ones)

Data from this early deep-dive posted awhile back in this thread: https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/402834470

That makes sense since 6600H is the smaller configuration compared to 6800H, having 2 fewer cores and only half the CUs with 6 instead 12. Furthermore the peak frequency is also limited, 4.5 instead 4.7GHz for the CPU and 1.9 instead 2.2.GHz for the iGPU.

I am this close to hitting the buy button, after adding BOTH codes. But I really want a 15.6, not a 13.3
same here-with exactly the specs i am looking for at that price it certainly is tempting but i know i need the bigger screen so would regret doing so. my current 4500U is 14" and a bit too small for my taste since i plan on gaming on it.
