I predict that the Windows 10 rebound will be bigger than some people expect. The number of clients I've talked to who are excited about having the start menu back are numerous. And of course the gamers are excited about DX12.

I'm cautiously optimistic myself. I do believe Windows 10 will be adopted by enterprise which will help it a great deal (Windows 8 was largely avoided).

Personally, this is the first time I've upgraded my video cards in a while. I'm buying new DirectX 12 video cards in preparation of the newer games.

AMD has practically 0 penetration on the corporate market, so even if W10 lifts the corporate market it won't help AMD at all. AMD seem to be pretty much confined to a small niche of the notebook market, and selling trash Piledriver silicon on the channel.

ARM is WAY weaker than even MIPS. So going Power is not crazy.. They know that going Intel x86 is practically giving the Source code of the games to run flawlessly on PC and that is the worst option posible.
MS is returning to the Pc and ditching the Xbox due the big failure of this generation. Is better an Intel Pc than a capped AMD or nVIDIA console.

Current consoles use 1.6Ghz Jaguar cores, which are weaker than ARM A72. Apple's Cyclone is even faster. Not to Menton AMD is working on K12. ARM is a very viable option for the next console generation, now it has 64 bit memory.

Again with the back to front cause and effect. AMD is trapped in those markets because it has an uncompetitive CPU architecture.

Not disagreeing with you here, just saying that Carrizo won't change this scenario by any means.

Agreed, ARM is the future. PowerPC is dead and buried and was a big reason for the Wii U failure.

How is ARM the future?

The x86 ISA rules the infrastructure that ARM devices access.

ARM will never usurp Intel / x86, less they can convince the computing industry to re-invent the wheel.

Key Finding 10: Regardless of ISA or energy-efficiency,
high-performance processors require more power than lower performance
processors. They follow well established cubic
power/performance trade-offs.

I agree that x86 has a place for a long time. However, the context of the conversation was consoles, and I could very easily see the next generation on consoles going ARM. I hope it does not happen, but I can just imagine the game devs salivating at the thought of being able to play games on both a home console and a smartphone/tablet, maybe just at different settings, or at least the programming would be shared between the mobile and home gaming platforms.

Considering the current CPU performance in consoles, ARM could easily be an alternative if the next bar is equally as low.

That makes perfect sense especially for Nintendo.
Do we have any concrete rumours about NX specs?

Where did any say they was interested in Zen?

We can see they express interest in Skylake. Why not Zen?

Because Zen is to be released only in 15 months or so...??.

But you already knew it.

If they had no feedback they wouldnt had prioritized Zen over K12.

. CEO Lisa Su has commented that AMD has decided to change their focus away from Skybridge based on customer feedback.

And in case you are concerned about a follow up :

AMD said part of its strategy forward toward high-performance parts won't pin everything on just the first Zen part. Papermaster said it has parallel teams, and one is already working on a "Zen+" part.

What i read is that they expressed disinterest for Intel s current Xeon line in light of what could eventualy be released.

They did, and they chose Purley (2016/2017) instead of Zen. Pehaps you could send an email to them enlightening them about Samsung's superior process, they must be really ignorant not to choose AMD's miracle chip.

Well, I said it once, might as well say it again.

Next gen consoles will be running a tweaked Fury / Zen APU, for VR and what not.

ARM is a low cost / low power utility cpu.

And as you know Skylake for srvers is 2017. Same timeframe, so tell me. What clients have expressed interest in Zen?

Skybridge as you link is an outstanding example of nobody wanting the product. So in short AMD doesnt really have a clue do they? Skybridge was a last moment cancelling. If you want to use that as an example, Zen can just as well go down the drain in Q2 2016.

Only Nintendo runs on AMD. Sony might go ARM Samsung or NVIDIA and MS can go Intel CPU and GPU and stabilish the new lowest tier on consoles. Or simply ditch consoles and go PC and Mobiles all the way.

I think Nintendo will choose the cheap route and stick with the bread and butter Jaguar + GCN design the others are using to facilitate ports (after Wii U complaints from devs).
Now I would really like something like 8 Cortex A72 cores + GCN/Maxwell GPU as home console and 2 Cortex A72 cores + cut down GCN/Maxwell GPU as handheld device. The integration would be amazing.

They discarded Intel current line, and for a reason, since you pretend that they are not ignorant why did they decide to skip this gen..??.

I read in other threads that you re pomoting an exceptional efficency, what happened at the pro level...??..

This say that my estimation of Intel s current line perf/Watt is accurate, prove is that professionals dont think that it s better than Haswell, that s the first deduction that you should had made if you were really giving them some credit, from your own words, they are not ignorant...

At this point Zen has only taped out and is still in a lengthy validation phase, they wont send samples since it s useless as the prototypes do not use a definitive process, i have no doubt that it will be more than competitive with Intel s future products, and i base my assumptions on technical and published metrics, not on brand preference...

I think everyone is on the same page in this regard. Even diehard AMD people will admit that Carrizo is merely an evolutionary product. The only game changer from AMD is possibly Zen and its still a long time before it shows up.

Two completely different conversations. We were discussing Game Consoles -- not PC's. ARM CPU's have already made inroads in game consoles by powering the Vita, DS, 3DS, Playstation TV, Ouya and more.
