my 146 won't prime on 2.8@1.45volts but will go all day on 2.7@1.425v I'd like to think i could hit 3.0 with a DFI at 1.52 but that voltage is a little to high for my tastes. Frankly, 2.7 is just fine at .075 overvolt. that's right... i'm a pvssy :(.

That's awesome!

Now show me a screenshot.

My rig is inside my case and I'm getting 44C loaded dual priming large FFT's with a 170 Opty @ 1.45- 1.46v.

I love my Zalman 9500!!

Personally I like to see lower temps. What is your idle temp w/ 1.52v?

here ya go!!

170@2.8Ghz :)

even at 1.47v (1.495 set), my 170 only heats up to 45C;)

170- 24hr prime run.

I only had a 8hr run of dual prime @ 1.45v and did not upload the SS, but I run my rig 24/7 @ 2.78Ghz because it is a tad cooler loaded and I don't see the difference for 20mhz:)

verified w/ a Fluke that it's only 0.02v off..... every board is slightly different ;)

Your pumping 1.7volts into your chipset, and mbm shows it at 37C? Are you using stock cooling? What are your ambient room temps?

yep..... chipset stays cool, so I juice it pretty well;) It actually reads 31C- you must have mis-typed that.

I pulled the stock chipset cooler off, applied AS Ceramique and just put it back on. In the DFI bios you can set what temp you want the chipset fan to be "full speed". I set it to be full speed above 25C. My Zalman goes full speed over 35C or else it is always "throttling" on/off. I originally set the Zalman to full speed at 30C, but I did not like it going OFF occasionally at that setting.

My rig is in my basement and it's about 18C (65F). I have an Antec SX1040 case with two 80mm fans and a bay cooler as intakes in the front, two 80mm fans on a Card Cooler XT on the side of my case- they blow over the 7800GT and happen to hit the chipset as well ;), and two 80mm rear exhaust fans as well as the PSU exhaust.

Needless to say they all help my temps- especially the card cooler:D

Get some better cooling and you've got 3.05 :)

Not interested in anything but air cooling to be honest. Too much power usage anyway, so I don't need a compressor or pump to keep suck up juice. :)

Buy a Scythe Ninja... it could make that chip go just that little bit higher.

i agree Just. I have a CABYE 0540 and i see a idle high 20s to low 30s and load at 50 at 2.9Ghz. I am also using the stock fan which gets me 1.1k rpm which is slow but i see the trend too. during the summer wehn i dont keep my place at 62F i cant run my chip so fast :(

OP: Nice overclock. That stepping is pretty close to what I have, although mine doesn't like the stock multiplier for some reason.

he's on a dfi as well so hes taking the windows reading of vcore which always reads ~.05 lower than what is actually set.

It doesn't seem to be that inaccurate for me. I have it set to 1.35x113% and MBM reports 1.52V, which is only slightly off.

Nice! My Opteron 144 does up to 2.85 GHz at 1.440V (haven't tested it in Prime for more than 2 hours tho). Before I bought my Opteron I checked yours out on RFD but it was a bit too pricey for me, so I found a 144 locally and lucked out on a good chip ;) .

Cheers bud!
