That's very nice, but it won't run XP, which you need to play games.

1 thing the chinese do not do...
1) respect international law on copyright and patent infringement. Likely have plenty of "borrowed" technology here
It's not easy punishing a country that can break the foundation of your economy.Originally posted by: orion23

It's our fault and Europe's as well for not punishing the chinese when it comes to this VERY BIG PROBLEM!

1.4ghz P4s were pathetic and had issues playing somme video, etc. I can only imagine these for school laptops...basically portable word processors....
Hopefully they get better. i would love to see another 1 to 2 chip makers get into the mix. More competition, more innovation...
It's only scary because it's not us doing it, human paranoia. If your own country blew up their own satellite you wouldn't think twice. We continue to support their growth because we have no good reason not to. This millenium is certainly not the time to distance ourselves from our neighbours. China's economic explosion can be the best thing that's ever happened to the industrial world. They blew up one of their own satellites, so what, it's their satellite. The world would be a much better place if we followed in China's footsteps and only blew up what's ours.Originally posted by: orion23

Yeah, but we have created a monster......Did you hear about the missile to satellite test last friday? They already have a monster army build up and we continue to support their growth.....Scary....

My old AMD T-bird 1.4 with PC133 would have gave that setup a thrashing....and cost less than half the price at the time.

It would probably thrash all of BLX's processors to date as well, not that that's much of an accomplishment.

It's comparable to a P4 1.4, but if the claims of 3-8W power consumption are true it could make for a fine cheap laptop processor. Also keep in mind that at this point they are playing catch up. Their performance numbers have been quickly closing in on Intel/AMD since 2002. In another 4 years they could very well be a performance market alternative.

LOL...yes the T-bird 1.4ghz was a beast for it's time...I wish I still had my 1.4/KT7A-RAID setup....it was a nice sweet rig.
The primary purpose of the chip is to run localized Chinese versions of Linux, with emphasis on Chinese character support.

It's obviously designed to cater to a specific audience that is very different from the typical ATer. If you're interested in performing basic e-mailing/web surfing/office tasks in a Chinese Linux environment, this chip may have the edge with its low price point and power consumption.
