Microcenter is matching Newegg prices... and throwing in 32GB of G.Skill FlareX DDR5-6000 memory on top.

Ryzen 9 7950X $574 (includes 32GB DDR5-6000)
Ryzen 9 7900X $474 (includes 32GB DDR5-6000)
Ryzen 7 7700X $349 (includes 32GB DDR5-6000)

Insane value for the new chips. Wish I had a Microcenter nearby.
Same. That's a great deal.

Amd is getting complacent already. Slow reaction to obvious problems. Zen5 might probably be the second wonder, but if this slow market response is a sign of the organization starting to get slow, it will be bad in 5 year. Time for some change.

Is the performance difference from 5600->5600x significant?
No. They are very close in performance at stock.

You can also use a number of methods to get a free performance boost from either CPU. I use the UEFI and set it to ECO mode with a +200MHz boost. My 5600 runs 4.65Ghz like that, and my 5600X runs 4.85GHz. There are other methods like RyzenMaster to accomplish the same thing or better. Some here have gotten 4.7GHz all core with little effort.

AMD also has a deal going right now where you get a copy of `UNCHARTED™: Legacy of Thieves Collection!` with the purchase of a new 5000 series processor.

I actually didn't know about it until I received the key this morning in my email from Amazon.
It has been going on a good while now. Only Newegg makes the games bundle obvious. Best Buy and Amazon it is a little less obvious.

There is this "entity" in my head constantly urging me to upgrade to 5950X from 2700X even though I am perfectly happy with 2700X performance. I don't know how long I can contain this entity before it gets hold of me. :innocent::innocent::innocent:
Finally I gave in and got a 5950X, but 2700X didn't really want go without a fight. It was real a struggle to detach it from the heat-sink. I did run the CPU at 100% load before trying to remove. But no avail, hair drier, blade, screw driver :coldsweat:. Not sure whether I have damaged it in the process.

But the 5950X is working fine in B350 motherboard with existing OS installation. Thanks AMD for keeping the socket support this long.

I have compiled new AMD 7000 series CPU in the table on first page, didn't notice AMD has increased price of 5800X3D by $50. Guess high demand of CPU hikes the price. :p

I am afraid 7800X3D would cost more than $400? We should know more next month...

AM4 remains cheap, and AMD keeps selling a relatively large number of AM4 CPUs.

I wonder how much uptake there would be if AMD sold a 7000 series CPU with a quad channel DDR4 controller, removing the need to buy new memory. It would be great for people like me (I run 4x16GB).

Could happen now that server is at 12 channels. At the very least, the flagship SKU must have quad channel support. Dual channel's been around way too long for us and we badly need to get out of the dark ages.

I suspect there will be Threadripper Pro SKUs for Sienna. I think that's the closest you are going to get.

The previous rumor was for two levels of Threadripper platforms, one with 8 channels (so likely Pro based on SP5/Genoa/Bergamo) and one with 4 channels (so likely standard based on SP6/Sienna).

Interersting idea! Sadly I doubt that AMD would be too interested in that, since it would up idle/max power draw and be reliant on DRAM technology that is no longer under active development.

The 5800X 3D is available here in the states from Amazon and Walmart for $339 as of this date. It comes with a Company of Heroes game.

5600 and 5700X are the top 2 sellers on Newegg, and surprisingly, the 7950X is in 4th place, with the 7700X in 5th. Most of the Zen 3 line ups prices, are higher now than what I was seeing from late Sept - Dec. Some by a significant amount.

On Amazon Zen 3 is dominating the top 10. Zen 4 however, is selling quite poorly, and doesn't show up until 20th place.

Quad channel would give yet another excuse to board makers to jack up the prices. They will be hanging onto the ridiculous pricing until the bitter end. I do not know how much of it is under AMD's control, but I know that 1) the quality improvement cannot explain the degree of price hike, and 2) the way they are pricing the products is so arbitrary.

Admittedly the standard has gone up - I do not see the kind of "race to the bottom" that plagued AMD platforms of the past, but right now it appears they are just calling whatever prices they think they can get away with as if there is no tomorrow.

I snagged the $199 5700X Amazon deal a few weeks ago and sold my previous 4700G for $130. Hows that for turnaround

Miss the integrated graphics already though.
I have back up and bench GPUs, but I keep at least one APU on hand. Out of curiosity, why do you miss the iGPU if you don't mind answering?

Man, I was reviewing my case purchases. I routinely bought nice cases for $40-$50 shipped well into the pandemic, and now you can't find anything under $60 that's decent and you are talking $80 for the same cases I was buying before.

I only bring this up to illustrate that even as we get nice and cheap ram and nvme storage, other PC component costs have risen. Usually we'd get this nice dip as we transition from one memory type to another but that dip looks to be pretty lean this time around.

AM4 has the "cheap" boards, CPUs and Ram. If you are into value today then it's the way to go, but its a dead end. Those used to buying a second gen Intel CPU on the same socket should be comfortable with this though, and it's just the way of things. So much value can be had.

AMD motherboard costs being what they are, but its been a struggle to find quality boards for good prices on the Intel side for some time, in my experience. Right now the best way to get a good Z690 is to buy a 12th Gen CPU at Microcenter but I don't have a soft spot in my heart for the ASUS boards being offered.

AM5 is the only platform that isn't dead.

On a related note, I'd like to get each reviewer that bags on the cost of the boards, into the cage for one 5 minute round, just one. PCIE 5.0 adds cost. Plus, they know as well as I do, that board makers are trying to profit more off of each sale, because it is likely most owners aren't going to upgrade their boards again, for the life of the platform. What are they going to add feature wise, that is compelling enough that the majority of owners will upgrade? Nothing, that's what. I could be wrong, but only time will tell.

Up until a few weeks before Xmas was the time to buy it seems. Prices haven't been as good since.
