AMD FX "Vishera" Processor Pricing Revealed

Those two 8 cores will have to perform better than a i5-3570K, otherwise it's going to be another failure for AMD.

That's just initial prices, probably priced on the high side because supplies will initially be on the low side.

See what they are like come a month after launch when the wafers are flowing.

Not only that, they are the initial prices from one specific vendor, known to have higher prices.

FX 4300 4 cores @ 3.8 - 8MB - 95W ------- $131.62
FX 6300 6 cores @ 3.5 - 14MB - 95W ------ $175.77
FX 8320 8 cores @ 3.5 - 16MB - 125W ----- $242.05
FX 8350 8 cores @ 4.0 - 16MB - 125W ----- $253.06

Source?

Anyway, if true it's obviously overpriced. The i5-3570K will be faster in 95% of scenarios and it costs $230.

When BLT first posted these I checked the rest of their FX pricing against other vendors, they (BLT) were within $10 - $15 of Newegg and Amazon at the time. They do seem to be a bit higher in pricing but you can usually find anything you want there.

The Vishera listings at BLT seem to have been pulled by the way.

These prices are far too high. The 6 core is the most interesting price / performance out of the lineup and the old 6 core FX didn't become an interesting buy until it hit around $125. $175 is much too high for the projected improvement. Still, 14-16MB of cache is cool I guess.

Agree, prices will fall with availability and specially if they don't match 3570k performance. I wonder how much AMD improved it.

cheapest 8 core model at 240!?
the 8120 and 8150 are being offered for 160 and 190 at the moment, this is a huge price increase I think... it better be a lot faster... because at 230 the 3570k is tough competitor.

The fx 8350 looks pretty epic, basically the first 4ghz stock core clock chip to ever to be produced,to my knowledge.

Having high hopes that at these prices with such a high stock clock, that just maybe such a chip could touch the i7 3770k,basically the chip i believe that the fx 8350 is marketed to compete against.

But hell we have all be disappointed before with faildozer but still there is hope for some sort of competition. Will watch the launch with eager anticipation.😉

BTW the 8120 and 8150 already have the 16mb cache. It's 8mb L2 and 8 mb L3.

I snagged a 8150 on a supersale for $170. I think the 8350 if priced @$200 and if a decent improvement will be a good deal.

Let's be reralistic. IF the 8350 is near the 2600k in performance it will be an achievement. I don't see it in the cards to be near the 3770k.

So by that logic if Intel decided to release a power-hungry and leaky P4 @ 4.0ghz it would be impressive? It's the benchmarks that matter not the 'Ghz' or 'moar cores!'.

For those who might have a fx x4 or something,it could be a possible upgrade for those not wanting a whole new motherboard and a i5/i7 but who need more crunching power.

Doubt anyone will build a entire new system from this chip, the stock core clock is pretty crazy you must admit but that is about it.

People sure getting all jumpy when someone hopes its a good chip,at $253 the fx 8350 is making one hell of a statement, but screw it,we could all hope its a pile of poo poo if it just makes you feel better.

More then likely not,but its msrp does suggest it could maybe touch the i5 2500k,but hell if these chips end up sucking as much as bulldozer, they mind as well close up shop when it comes to making processors then huh?

We already know it's not a P4, and hopefully it will be at least somewhat improved IPC from FX8150.

I think people are justified in making a few more assumptions about performance of a "4GHz Piledriver" instead of a just "hey look 4GHz"

And, depending on where you live (near a Microcenter), the 3570 can be had for $190 or less.

And if your bringing up Microcenter.

FX 4100 $89.99 + free motherboard
FX 6100 $109.99+ free motherboard
FX 8120 $139.99 + $50 off select motherboards

And I'll say what I said in another leaked pricing thread, with the FX 8120 priced at $140-$160 depending on retailer, who would buy Piledriver?
