Are you gaming with the notebook plugged into the wall via AC adapter, or are you doing it on battery power?

I always play games with the notebook plugged on the AC Adapter into the wall.

Then I would suggest using a cheap power monitor like a Kill-a-Watt to see what is the power draw of your system while gaming. Maybe cross-reference that data with readouts from software like HWiNFO64.
