How could you guys be having these problems. Are you on older chipset motherboards??
It seems unusual indeed.
It seems unusual indeed.
No one here knows more about practical-use than I do.
Your CPU is brand new in terms of "durability". You will probably use it for 2 years maximum, because all Cpu intensive games "as of current" loses 30-50% of frame-rates on all Bulldozer CPUs.
So, WHY NOT take the 15-25% performance gain through overclocking.
You have nothing to lose, because technically, your cpu is behind the times already. I'm not trying to be mean.
Let's say your CPU wears out, and you lose the ability to "sustain" the overclocked speed. Then you just put it back to stock, and it'll continue to run for another 5 years.![]()

I agree, but I do like the low power consumption when Turbo is enabled. Although, i'll definitely be overclocking in the future when I need to. And honestly as weak as everyone is saying the Bulldozer is, i'm quite impressed. Then again, my opinion might be misconstrued considering I just decommissioned my Manchester 939 X2 (OCed to 2.9GHz) and then bought the Bulldozer. I kinda miss that little buddy. :'(
I currently have the 990FX chipset and everything is working great after a little adjusting in AMD Overdrive. It hits 3.9GHz quite often and especially when playing some BF3.![]()
Why overclock in the future? Do it right NOW. It's not like you can SAVE anything.![]()
I had my 6100 at 4200MHz with turbo at 4700 - slight bump in voltage was all that was needed. From what I have read - those speeds are pretty easy to hit.

Please OP. disregard anything this guy says...
You mock me and yet you're the one with a poorly built rig. LOL
8x 4GB, hinders your overclocking ability, and puts unnecessry stress on the memory controller
That much ram forced you to go blow 1600mhz which exerts another 10-15% performance hit in games AND general cpu intensive applications.
So you just threw down 1k to end up with a NON-top tier machine.
Fantastic, I love it when n00bs think their ride's pimpin' when it's in fact just flashy.
HAHA, and you got a 670 just to run your ghetto ass 2408 HAHAHAHA>
Let me guess, both your rice-mobiles are all hooked up with high PSI turbos on stock engine?.:biggrin::biggrin:
Did you go through troll training before you joined this forum? You're doing a excellent job of it in almost every post of yours.
Well, it's not useless. It's just not as often used as it can be![]()
Haha, well put and correct :awe:
It's a box feature box that was checked that doesn't do much except allow them to tout a higher frequency that is hit so infrequently that it is misleading.
I didn't know this. It looks like I would be better off disabling turbo and running the regular clock speed higher then??
