The requirement of an all AMD rig will probably make it pretty useless to most of us though.

Couldn't someone just find out what processes get shut down and make a list somewhere then post it for the rest to see? I think Radified had something like this.

I am not so sure about what you mean by most. 90%? 51%? Or a 'Clinton' definition meaning 40%?
I was rather dubious when AMD and ATI 'merged', but we are already starting to see the benefits to gaming with the 790GX chipset and the Hybrid Crossfire concept. But of course, this will mean nothing the the Intel-only-fanboys, since they already refuse to buy AMD products and now will also refuse to buy ATI products. My next major upgrade will be a 790GX motherboard or whatever follows it, depends on how soon I decide to upgrade my video card. Unless some Hot Deals come along, I might be lazy and just wait until the next crop of games run poorly on my current setup which may be a long time from now.

Which is strange how exactly?
I myself wonder what the reason behind the AMD platforum requirement is. Is it because it won't work otherwise? Or is it just a way to keep intel/nvidia users out? If so, it can be hacked![]()
I've briefly looked around but haven't found any other tool like this out there. AMD has the opportunity to really fill a niche here. If they position themselves as the standard for this type of software, they stand to benefit quite a bit from it. We do understand the platform focus, but there is a major branding opportunity here if they open up a cut down version of the software to all gamers. Imagine if every Intel + NVIDIA system had an AMD button sitting on the desktop. That wouldn't be a bad move for AMD by a long shot.

I don't trust software overclocking, and will only do that when necessary(gfx card). Overclocking is best done through BIOS, and if you don't understand the principles you shouldn't be doing with software or BIOS tweaks.
