Fresh leak out today, not much is known but at least 8cu's is confirmed. Probably an engineering sample, core count is unknown and clocks may not be final.

This is very interesting to me because cezanne is seemingly 8cu only, and it seems unlikely to me that AMD could squeeze any more performance out of vega. A cpu only upgrade of renoir may be lackluster compared to tigerlake's quite large GPU.

What do you guys think? Will zen 3 be a large enough improvement in APU form? Will it have full cache? Are there more than 8cus? Has AMD truly evolved vega yet again or is it more like rdna?

Renoir took over laptops really fast, there was no contest there, Renoir was just better. They just decided to kill Picasso early on 2020 to the point they even went the exta mile to put the artificial block on new motherboards, while at the same time decided to keep Renoir only for OEM/Mobile. This is a very wierd thing to do, were all the 12nm production went?

Raven 2/Dali is 14nm, Picasso is 12nm.

4/4 Athlons ARE full Picassos dies, but they are a low volume product.

12lp and 14lp use, essentially, the same capacity from GloFo. 12LP is 14LP with 7.5T track libraries. Same equipment all around, save for some interchangeable parts.

Understood, but where can you buy 4xxxG CPUs?

I don't think you can as a standalone part. Even most of the 5000-series APUs are still OEM only.

I can't really blame them for not including those parts considering they'd probably have to go out and buy a box.

Dunno about the US, but in Europe they have been pretty easy to source, if you know where to look. Pretty decent value actually, the 4650G is only a bit more then a regular 3600non-X. There doesn't seem to be many left however, and with the 5000G launch a mere fortnight (Yes, it's a bit more then that. But the pun is better...) I don't expect to see any more supplies.

Maybe it's just too early or maybe it's all of the gin and tonics I had yesterday, but I'm just not seeing it and I've spent too much time now thinking about that I've really got ask.

I guess I'm aware of the game, but have never played it so I probably wouldn't look for a connection there.

I don't play personally, but if you have contact with younger family members it's pretty hard not to trip over the subject.

I needed something economical for it specifically, 4650G fit nicely. Not too expensive, doesn't require a fancy board, runs ok with cheap 3600MHz memory, and can always support a discrete card if required.

I guess Mark Twain was right though. Explaining a joke is a bit like dissecting a frog.

Indeed.

BTW, best of luck with the after effects of that G&T. Been there.

Hardware Unboxed, same thing as Gamer Nexus in comparison or test we will completely ignore Desktop Renoir APU 4000G series.

Did he said at some point what memory did they used?
And still suprises me that no one seems to realise that you shouldnt use 1080p with these APUs and 900p is the way to go.

Again it depends on location, "but in general it is kind of available in classic retail."

Two or three months ago(in Croatia), R5 3600 was 30-35euro more expensive vs R5 4650G.Now they have very similar price, or as far i see EU market lowest price for R5 4650G is in Croatia, or only 200euro.In Croatia, the price for R5 4650G has not changed since the first month of this year.

In February i paid 200euros for R5 4650G, or 1500kn is 200euro.Today or now, as you see price is the same.

That's more-or-less what I'm seeing in Denmark. Given we have the same VAT rate (had to google that... :) ) that fits pretty well with pricing here, except the 3600 has been steady at 1450-1600 DKK (~200€) all spring. The 4650G is just a hair more expensive at 1600-1700 DKK (~220€).

The sad part is that I'm currently more interested in the 4700g/5700g for a compact home server build than I am for it's iGPU. I'd like to preserve my PCI slots for a sata HBA, a quad port NIC, and another x4 NVME SDD card. I'd prefer the X line instead, but without any iGPU, this is the way I have to go with AMD.

I am not sure what you are using colors for, but I am currently reading in the "dark mode", so anything colored black is basically unreadable. Please, just change font characteristics (bold/italic/underscore/etc) and not colors. You are not making anything you write more readable by changing colors anyway.

And especially, don't change colors/font/bold/italics/underscore/anything of a quote. The quote is meant to be verbatim. If you want to highlight a fragment of a quote, please mention how you highlighted the parts and why.

If you just need basic video output, this might be a solution:

https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Components/Graphics-Cards/ASUS/GT710-4H-SL-2GD5/

That way you're not using a precious larger slot for graphics. Zotac makes a cheaper version too, if you can still find it.

Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate you pointing me towards that item. Unfortunately, for the board that I already have, it looses the only remaining x1 slot if you use two of the data ports, which I will be doing.
