Wonder what's with the absence of the release notes? Something big under the hood?

Guru 3d forums are reporting BF3 is much smoother, BLOPS2 flickering fixed, and a big boost in Unigine Valley benchmark. One user also states that Max Payne is no longer stuttering.

Woah there, Skyrim is LIQUID smooth.......... almost too smooth... I feel like I'm detecting input lag, which I never noticed before

Maybe AMD is unlocking previous intentionally gimped drivers in a response to Titan? Or this is just a normal driver release?

Probably because Skyrim has Vsync on by default, and you can't really turn it off. I wonder can you force triple buffering through RadeonPro to negate this?

No release notes? Hmm...whatever, I'll install it anyways...

And no OCGuy, I'm pretty sure they didn't "intentionally" gimp drivers...at least not at this point. Any intentional gimping would probably have been utilized back with 12.7 in response to the Geforce GTX 680, or with AMD's last big performance boost with the 12.11 betas. But it is reasonable to think that AMD might have put some extra elbow grease into these drivers in response to Titan.

AMD is holding off the memory rewrite for a reason. These drivers are a taste of possibly another 15% performance improvement.

Got an 8% improvement over all metrics in Unigine Valley 1.0 going from 13.2 beta 3 to these drivers.

BF3 is like liquid for me on these drivers. I do reduce settings to play at 120fps on my 7970, but it feels much more like 120fps now. Haven't tried anything else yet.

I should give the following disclaimer as well. It was metro only so my FPS was pegged at 120. Usually in dips down to 60-70 fps is where it gets jittery, and I can't get in another server because EA is offline right now.

Just got done with an 1.5hr stint in Skyrim. I played @ 2560x1600 8AA without skipping a beat. I have tons of texture mods and I was always in the upper 2k video mem usage. I can say with confidence that Skyrim frame latency is fixed and performace is flawless. Frame rate never dropped below 60fps, incredible

Since when does a $400 card compete with a $900 one? Not sure that theory makes sense to be honest. Why would AMD have gimped their drivers since their poor driver performance is what forced them to cut prices on HD7970 when GTX680 launched? If their drivers were up to par back then, they wouldn't have been forced to drop prices so dramatically after 670/680 cards launched given where a 925mhz 7970 sits now.

Also, when HD7970 cards launched, CF performance was very poor and there were many other issues. I think that negatively impacts the user experience and tarnishes the reputation. I don't think AMD would do such a thing on purpose just for some 10,000 unit halo card.

You think AMD purposely held back performance on HD7000 cards? You think they are that sadistic to their customers?
