Will this improve BF4 gaming?
Doubtful on the BF4 improvements.
Most likely just adds 290/290x support and hopefully DX 11.2 support for 7xxx series.

But all the above is just MY OPINION.

We won't really know until we can see some release notes.

I tbougb anandtech review said v5 wasnt the launch driver.
That could be, if you read the HARDOCP bit I linked and quoted above, it may very well be a WHQL driver instead of the 13.11 b5 driver they used for the 290x reviews.
It could be interpreted either way.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

But it is Friday, and Im not sitting by my pc all day waiting.
So if someone sees them b4 me, please post a link here. ;)

Looks like a decent list of performance improvements, I'll have to upgrade to this today. Thanks for the heads-up.

are those performance updates for the 290 and 290x? Saw that 35% increase for arkham origins with msaa and decided to test it out but fps dropped considerably to 18 fps so I'm wondering how low would it have been without this catalyst beta driver?

Note: I was not looking for high fps on a single 7970 but msaa is a killer of frames per second.

Yuck. That doesn't come included with the regular driver package, does it?
Its optional, and unfortunately I decided to try it.

And of course the darn thing isnt listed under add/remove programs or Catalyst uninstall utility.
I had to msconfig and find the startup file and open file location to find the uninstall exe to get rid of it.

I did express uninstall and was greated with the widget on the desktop.

It's listed under Raptr in the uninstall section of windows.

It looks and feels like a cheap GeForce Experience program, with ads and other awfulness.

Ugh, you can't even deselect it under custom install :(

I probably just missed it then, I wasn't looking for Raptr.
It even continued to annoy me after I uninstalled it asking me to fill out a survey of why I uninstalled it.

I'm getting TDR's now on desktop.

Hehe...

With custom it still loads it on your C drive, but it doesn't install/run.

TDR errors seem to be gone now after rebooting.

If you go to c: \Program Files (x86)\Raptr and run the uninstall.exe it gets rid of it entirely.

Looks like I was correct.

These are newer drivers not used for the reviews.

Anyone know how to remove it from the installer instead of installing the trojan horse and then pretending to uninstall it?

Also I hope this fixes the massive Palette issues in DirectDraw that were introduced sometime during the 13.xx drivers. I miss playing my Age of Empires, Age of Empires II, Lords of the Realm II, etc.

Dankk's reaction is my first impression...but I think I'll try it just to see if it's worth despising. What's really annoying is that they don't note the introduction of this "Gaming Evolved Control Center" in the driver release notes, so many people are going to end up installing something that's about as useful as bloatware without even realizing it.

Ok, it looks like you can extract the contents of the packed executable with 7-zip and delete the Raptr folder.

Edit: scratch that it seems it does a catalogue of everything that's supposed to be in the executable and refuses to continue if you delete the raptr folder.

well this seems kinda lame. At least you can uninstall it later I guess.
