Does anyone have a Super PI comparison with the latest Intel desktop at around the same clock?

Quite a bit of time has passed since the last AMD Bulldozer leaks made their way to the Web, but things seem to get on track once again and what better way to bring the FX-Series processors back into the limelight that with an impressive 4.63GHz overclock.

The CPU that managed to achieve this feat seems to be an engineering sample of the FX-8130P and required about 1.5V in order to be stable enough to run the Super Pi benchmark at the above mentioned frequency.

From what we know at this point in time, the FX-8130P is supposed to be AMD's fastest desktop Bulldozer processor as it features eight processing core that are run at a base frequency of 3.8GHz.

Based on the load placed on its cores, the chip can increase its frequency up to 4.2GHz thanks to AMD's Turbo Core 2.0 technology.

In addition to the four Bulldozer modules, the FX-8130P also includes 8MB of Level 2 cache memory and 8MB of L3 cache as well as an integrated dual-channel memory controller that supports DDR3-1866 modules.

At this year's Computex fair, AMD has officially announced that the first Zambezi FX processors, based on the Bulldozer architecture, aren't expected to arrive until later this summer (August or September).

Before the news was made official, various reports suggested that AMD is having trouble with the performance of its Bulldozer architecture, as the first chip revisions functioned at lower than expected frequencies.

In order to fix these speed issues, AMD reportedly plans to build a new Bulldozer stepping, called B2, which should make the chips competitive with Intel's offerings.

The delay won't affect the Opteron 6200 processors based on the Interlagos architecture, which were demoed recently by AMD and pair together two CPU dies in the same packaging to form 12-core and 16-core Bulldozer CPUs for the server market. (OBRovsky Blog via Expreview)

Is that BD running a TDP of 186W? Can that be right?

looks like its more than 10 seconds and less than 19 seconds.... thats quite a range

Sandybridge 2500k/2600k would be about 8 secs at those freq.

Engineering samples are probably allowed to have higher TPD's.

that must not be the same type of run. the BD screenshot says 1m29s. those are 32M runs and not 1M run like the BD.

AMD bulldozer @ 4.6ghz seems to beat those scores, by getting 1.29's.

Question is.... can you believe those photos? (Im haveing a hard time with it)
And how much power is that engineering sample useing to get those scores (if true)?

The reader comments state that this is a fake, CPUZ 1.57 does not support Bulldozer or the FX chips. Something along those lines. I haven't kept up with CPUZ, but someone more knowledgeable can comment.

Fake.... CPUZ 1.57.1 gave it away again. Only the newest CPUZ 1.58 can recognize Bulldozer and show that FX logo. Have anyone actually go thru OBR's blog? Questionable source(!). Logically speaking, how can an ES end up in Czech Republic? The most realiable ES leaks should be coming from China and Taiwan (where majortiy of motherboard manufacturers are located). The most reliable leaks are CPUZ showing unknown CPUs (without FX logo).

^ if this is from Orb dude.... yeah, its photoshopped, dude is a nutter.
Credibility = zero.

I dont think it is possible to do a super pi 1M in 1.3 seconds. Even with cache at <1 nS latency, it still would take longer, right?

It's the same picture that I remember being posted on his blog, so I'd say yea it is fake. Since stuff is whited out, we already know its been through Photoshop.

Does anybody actually do any heavy lifting with x87 anymore, anyway?

Yes. Nvidia with their PhysX! 😀 One of the reasons it sucks that bad, when in plain cpu mode (not that the gpu mode is any good anyway).

Intel Core i7 2600K @ 5716MHz - 6.521s
BD - 1.29s

So the BD is more than 5x faster than a 2600K hitting almost 6GHz... huh? If that's the case, then I won't just buy BD I'll buy AMD stock! OBR must stand for Outrageous Blind Re**rd. 🙂

It isn't even a good fake. The codename isn't "Bulldozer," it's "Zambezi." Bulldozer is the name of the architecture. Zambezi is the core name.

rumor had it it was delayed to March 2012

Well... the last time I repeated "a rumor" around here I got my hand slapped. 😀

Let's stick to stuff we can link to. Anyone have any other references to this?

Note to fanboys of all descriptions: I am not an AMD hater, and I will look very favorably on BD for my next system should the performance be equal to or better than SB-E. Therefore, please turn flamethrowers OFF. Thank you. ()🙂

Major flaw if they have to delay another 9 months. You can be sure bd doesn't like gf 32nm process for some reason... At least they have brazo and llano I guess, which are very good products.

Yea I thought the B1 and B2 were scrapped and they are working on b3 right now.

The good news is, if they keep changing the stepping we might eventually get to a b-17 and can call it the "superfortress" 🙂 (and yes, I know that I just mixed my bomber metaphors)
