so, is this a good deal then? i'm contemplating getting it ... and, if wanted later on, can you upgrade to a higher end Athlon XP processor?

anyone who's had it for a few days satisfied?

I'll have to call and bitch to see if they will switch the cpu to the 1600 or give me a date that isn't too far off of when the cpu will come back in stock. I ordered it, it shows the system as shipped but the cpu as backordered.

I didn't understand why I got 3 entries?

Anybody else get their system up and going yet? I am a bit puzzled as my XP1700 processor is being reported @ 1090mhz? The board's manual states that it supports 266mhz fsb cpu's up to 1.33ghz. I got the SY-K7ADA V1.0 and it has the latest bios. What gives?

From www.soyousa.com troubleshooting faq;

Cpu speed not display correctly
If you are expericing Cpu speed display incorrectly. eg. 1.3ghz shows as 1Ghz; 1.4 shows as 1050Mhz, Xp1600 shows as 1050 ...etc, then follow the following instruction.

For K7ADA set FJ1 to #2 OFF;

Hope this helps...

Couldn't resist this deal . . . shipping is what makes it worth it cuz there are a few places out there selling MB/1700+/case barebones out there for around $200 but there shipping is sky high . . . like >$50.

Thanks for the post! 😀

I am on mine right now and so far I am very pleased. I tossed in a WD 30gb 7200rpm drive, a Plextor 12/10/32 cdrw, 256 PC2100 DDR ram, and an old voodoo 3 agp card I had laying around. This thing runs circles around my old Duron 900.

This may help: just the System Clock from 100 to
133MHz.

All DDR RAM is also listed as SDRAM. I have 512MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM in my machine at home but that does not mean my mobo supports PC133 SDRAM (which it doesn't and neither does this one). It is nice that it has 3 DDR Slots though, that's pretty sweet. May as well go with DDR, its not like PC133 is a lot cheaper and DDR is better RAM.

I sent an email off to them yesterday to see when they plan on getting the cpu back in stock. Had a response this morning saying that they should expect it back in next week.

I got mine and I am wondering why it is being so difficult .. If anyone is able to get theirs running let me know what DIP and Jumper setting you used. I posted on the motherboard forum .. I have tried every config available with no-go .. the system powers up .. does not beep , no video .. tried other video cards .. no go .. messed with the switches and it does beep .. very strange .. my config of the system board is in the motherboard forum .. I hope I did not get taken by this deal .. 🙂

PS- Only card is the video (Tried AGP and PCI) .. no other devices inside yet .. 1 128Mb DDR PC2100 in DIM1

Thanks

mine boots (i messed with it initially, but in the end everything's at auto, and FJ1 was changed from 100MHz to 133MHz to get it to boot as an XP1700+)...but the stupid POS keeps locking up. The temperature is ~40C in the BIOS, and the system is at 36C. I'm on it right now, hoping it won't crash 🙁

All I have in this system is a 256mb pc2100 stick from crucial i ordered yesterday and received today (hopefully that's not the problem), a radeon ve (agp), and my linksys nic...had the same problem with my netgear nic, no matter what pci slot it was in...

Anyone else have random lockups and manage to fix it? i'm not gonna OC, so I left the stock HSF on and didn't put any arctic silver on..

wasssup - Did you load any of the motherboard drivers that came on the CD or download any new drivers from Soyo?

Maybe you need something. I got my box today and should have the memory in the A.M.

i installed the drivers (from the cd) later on, but i kept getting that problem...i killed the WinXP Pro install and just finished installing Win2k Pro, i'm doing the windows updates and stuff (it'll take forever), but so far so good. If it runs stable for the next two days, i'll attempt to install WinXP again...

well, i removed my maxtor(promise) ata/100 card and my firewire card, changed the SDRAM clock from Default to 100/100/33MHz and changed performance to Normal, and it seems to be running fine in Win2k...even ran 3dmark2001 (benchmark was 1570 or something, eww) without problems (CPU temp jumped from 40C to 44C)

hope that helps anyone if they're having similar problems...

my processor is on backorder......anybody have some insight as to when they are getting more cpu's? or maybe has anyone successfully talke them into a diff cpu (for example the 1800+ for $30 more or anything?)

*anxiously waiting

They even told me they've already got the email from AMD confirming more 1700+ will come in at the weekend.
Sounds like they are AMD direct seller.

I received my system on Monday with 256DDR and 40gb Maxtor 7200 ATA/133. I was disappointed to find that the system did not have onboard video as advertised and it only had 2 usb ports as opposed to the advertised six. I called Outpost.com to complain. They offered a $20 credit which I took.

I got the system operational pretty quickly with a cheap video card. I downloaded the latest drivers from SOYO. I also downloaded what I thought was a BIOS upgrade. I followed the directions to load the BIOS upgrade to the letter (I've done many over the years). The BIOS corrupted and now the system is completely dead.

I called SOYO. They told me I could either buy a new flash BIOS chip for $30 or have mine reprogrammed for $15. I complained loudly (to no avail) because I followed the directions and it is a brand new system. I left a message for a so-called supervisor that went unanswered.

I called Outpost.com. They are shipping me a new case/motherboard to swap out. I have to pay for return shipping, but at least they came through. Wish me luck after the new system arrives.

And upgrade the flash BIOS only at your own risk! I won't touch it again.
