Yeah, you could get the maximum o/c with a delta fan back in the day. The noise trade off was not ok with me. However, the noise I was referring to on the Volcano 7+ was a resonating sound like singing. Yuck. I had two Thoroughbreds as well.

Had a epox that oc good till ps connector on the mb melted together.
Broke out the dremel cut away half of plastic connectors and forced a higher watt ps on it.
I still remember using a windshield defroster repair kit to jump out tiny dots on the cpu.
Those defroster repair kits still come in handy for jumping out traces on circuit boards.

I've still got a (mostly unused) tube of Circuit Writer. Bought it at Fry's just so I could connect the pins on those Socket A processors. This thread has brought back all sorts or good memories.
