Wow!

I can't wait to see how this board will perform when it's matured.. especially with a working agp driver.

I'm sure NFS4 knew about it.

EDIT

PC133 SDR, and DDR whooped RDRAM. It looks like I'll be keeping my PC133. Is the color of the silicon really Maroon?

Damn, I'm going to blow my pants right off if this is the performance we are going to see in the near future...

actually while reading the article the things that struct me had nothing to do with AMD. First I noticed how pathetic the i820 platform really is and secondly i was suprised to see how well the i815 chipset performed. Sure AMD760 is awesome, but we knew that all along -) (boycotting the new smileys)

This was a nice article. The most important thing I picked up is that there are some boards out there about ready to ship!!!!

Additionally, I would expect more improvement from PC2100 over the preview. As Anand pointed out, the Mustang and its derivatives will really benefit from this memory.

I have been hearing that recent benchmarks place the P4 about even or somewhat behind a PIII 1.13GHz when it is a 1.5Ghz. If these rumors are even close to true, the AMD processors (even the current ones) with DDR systems will have no problem with the Intel competition.

Incidentally, VIA is sort of barking up the wrong tree. The PIII FSB will limit the advantages of DDR SDRAM. It really doesn't do much good to have memory bandwidth of 2.1Gb/sec when the FSB can only transfer 1Gb/sec through the CPU.

I think AMD is doing the right thing by producing their own chipset. It was their intent to allow 3rd party partners to do what they do best in order to allow AMD to do what they do best; however, it seems that all this did was allow Intel a way of pressuring 3rd party AMD partners into delaying chipset releases (KM133 and KT133) as well as limiting availiblity (KT133) in order to keep AMD from gaining more market share.

With P4 due out next month as well as AMD's DDR chipset based mb's in the near future, it is going to be an interesting fall!

Now were is the new video cards? How's about an NV12, Rampage, and Radeon MAXX release?

<< only up to 10% faster not that much! >>

That doesn't make sense...anyway if you're talking about the performance difference between SDR and DDR, what where you expecting? 50% Come on, this is no miracle drug. And remember this was still a non-production board using beta drivers...

Thanks for the preview Anand. What a beauty that ddr ram is, dark red -yummy :) Now if we only could see some benchmarks with pc2100 at 266 fsb and some other benches and......;)

And of course we all know that because FIC is the first out the door(Again), that the make the best quality boards too.. There allways top on the list for benchmarks.... Wait till we see an official Asus or Abit bench on a final product, that should give us our 15-20% increase...

NSF4: We know DDR mostly by now with the Geforce and there is a major boost with DDR Ram!

The AMD 760 is looking really good!

The 5-20% performance boost was pretty much what was expected from the new chipset.

Also I think the numbers will also improve a few % when final boards are shipped and also when PC2100 DDR is used instead of the PC1600 DDR that was in the review!

Hardware: RAM utilization is quite different between Vidcards and mobo's. A mobo has too many potential bottlenecks to expect the same kind of improvements that a vidcard can have.

This improved DDR ram I have been reading about looks great for big performance increase(QDR ram).

AMD kicks ass!!!! Take that Intel lover boys.

We should also note that the benchmarks weren't done at 266Mhz with PC2100 Ram, they were done at 200Mhz DDR with PC1600 DDR. I think we should see about another 5-10% increase in some applications with the higher FSB and memory implimentation. Coupled with Super Bypass enabled, the optimized Mustang core and some Asus or Abit loving and we're set.
