Wow, even the number 3 card has 16GB VRAM and is faster than the 2080TI. And the $1000 6900XT matches the $1500 3090 in performance.

The 3000 parts don't look so hot now.

Post reviews edit:
It's astonishing what AMD have managed to achieve with both the Ryzen 5000 and the Radeon 6000, especially given the absolutely minuscule R&D budget and resources compared to nVidia/Intel. Lisa Su is definitely the "Steve Jobs" of AMD with such a remarkable turnaround.

6900XT:
(It's absolutely amazing to see AMD compete with the 3090)

If you have time, can you please check the performance in some modern benchmark by setting different frequencies to the GPU, like default, 2000, 1800, 1600, 1400MHz? I already posted what I got from another user and the result was that decreasing clockspeed by ~19% resulted only in 10.5% lower performance. Why do I want It? Because of the mobile versions and It looks interesting.

Computer base did those tests at 1.8Ghz and 2ghz.

Thanks, I will check It.

edit:
Now I checked It and It looks like this:
RX 6800XT at 1800MHz vs 2000Mhz vs Default clocks(Clockspeed interval in different games is 2089-2354MHz and It was hitting Power and Temperature target limits)
Average performance increase in 4K: 100% vs 108% vs 116%
Only 16% gain is not much, that would mean only ~2088MHz If we excluded some form of bottleneck.

Now I choose two games, Death Stranding and Trackmania, two games with highest minimal clockspeeds.
Death Stranding performance in 4K: 100% vs 107% vs 119% (Clockspeed interval is 2265-2334MHz)
Trackmania performance in 4K: 100% vs 111% vs 127% (Clockspeed interval is 2271-2334MHz)
In Trackmania you gain 27% performance for 26-30% clockspeed increase, but in Death Stranding you gain only 19% for 26-30% clockspeed increase.
It looks like the scalling in Trackmania is pretty much linear, but not in Death Stranding.
In the end, It looks like the performance will still depend mainly on how high mobile chips could be clocked within a limited power budget.

But I want N22, N23 and Nvidia counterparts to see. ;)
Then I want to see the mobile versions and what Laptops they will be put into. I am not sure If I can resist buying a new laptop in 2021 instead of waiting at least for 2022 to buy a new one.

Newegg had 1 XFX come in stock which sold out very quickly. They have store pages for multiple 6800XT models, but they are all $800+. I don't know if it's Newegg inflating the price or if it's the actual MSRP of the AIB cards. Probably a bit of both.

Well, AIB reviews are up.

The stock looks even worse than during the initial launch, unfortunately and models are shockingly expensive:

Here is a roundup link:

HWUnboxed wasn't told the price for Sapphire Nitro+ but techpowerup lists it at $770 (for ~2% gain compared to stock). For the Powercolor Red Devil they speculate $800.

Looks like even the 1 XFX card that went for sale on Newegg might have been a mistake as I'm seeing everyone who was able to order one got an email saying there was no stock of this item and their order is cancelled.

Man, what is it with card manufacturers making super long cards now? I have a medium size case with GPU clearance of 305-310mm and half the cards won't fit anymore. Asrock 5700XT Taichi is 324mm long, Sapphire Nitro is right on the edge at 310mm, XFX 6800xt is over 330mm, Red Devil 6800XT is also around 325mm. Thank god at least reference design is 270mm, not that I would be getting it any time soon. Hopefully Navi22 cards will be shorter without compromising on the cooling abilities.

P.S. I'm really sad because there was a guy on Craigslist selling 5700XT Taichi for $250 and I couldn't get it because it won't fit in my case :(

Computerbase saw a 4% gain for the Nitro+ over reference and when OCd it hits nearly 2.7ghz.

RDNA2 launch has been a big joke at least here in Finland. Worse than Ampere launch. On top of that the prices are going up. Custom cards aren't anywhere near the reference price which was already over what AMD suggested.

Well that's rather pointless then :) Anyone got a clue what's bottlenecking it?
Radeon 6800 is clearly in minimal supply. I'd guess biggest bottleneck is availability of 7nm wafers. AMD is selling every 84mm Ryzen chiplet it can make on 7nm for around $300 each, or close to $4/mm sales prices. That should be nearly 4 times as profitable as diverting any production to Radeons (~520mm die).

Until AMD can get caught up with Ryzen demand, it is hard to justify diverting 7nm production to Radeon (I'm presuming they are using the same wafers).

And AIB vendors can't justify putting out new designs until they get sufficient supply, just making 1000 cards (or less!) is tough to make money at any markup price for AIB.

They didn't give performance numbers when overclocked.

In the Hardware Unboxed video their Sapphire Nitro OC is running ~10% faster than a stock reference model and was ~10% faster in SOTR 4K. So, at least in that one benchmark, their 6800XT performance scaled 1:1 linearly with GPU overclock.

I'd rather have the AIB's make an extra buck than the scalpers. Honestly it's the only way to ensure that people don't scalp is to actually charge what the market will bear with the idea of using the additional revenue to expand production, but that's not really something the AIBs can do.

Anyone got a clue what's bottlenecking it?

I'm not sure if it's really bottlenecked too badly since the performance does scale with clock increases. I think people just tend to forget that if you OC to 2.6 GHz, but your typical clocks are already around 2.3 GHz, then that 300 MHz only represents slightly more than a 10% increase.

A while back (can't recall if it was this thread or the other one) someone posted some memory OC tests and didn't find any improvements there, so unless it's a particular game, it doesn't seem to be hitting any memory bandwidth bottlenecks, which the infinity cache probably alleviates quite well. It's got 128 ROPs, which is actually more than Ampere, so it seems that's pretty unlikely as well.

Wow. My SFF Coolermaster NR200P (ITX) can fit GPUs up to 330mm in length. Maybe upgrade to a new case?

Plot twist: Everyone thought NV rushed their RTX 3xxx line-up to be ahead of AMD's strong performance... But it turns out AMD rushed their launch to stop people from buying NV. This is how you play 5d chess folks :p

- Some of us have a bad habit of cramming $1000 of parts into $30 of case...

The Microcenter I was at this morning recieved about 35 ASUS Tuf 3080s, and about 25 Radeon 6800 reference. Also about 15 - 5800X. So there are close to equal amounts of 6800 (non XT) getting out as 3080, I just think AIB is going to see actual volume several weeks from now.

Honestly, somewhat disappointing. At this point I may wait for the 3080ti. Performance is good but no better than nvidia and with worse RT performance and no DLSS. There seems little incentive to get one apart from the higher vram.

Either option means you cut a corner somewhere, very frustrating.
