Wow, even the number 3 card has 16GB VRAM and is faster than the 2080TI. And the $1000 6900XT matches the $1500 3090 in performance.

The 3000 parts don't look so hot now.

Post reviews edit:
It's astonishing what AMD have managed to achieve with both the Ryzen 5000 and the Radeon 6000, especially given the absolutely minuscule R&D budget and resources compared to nVidia/Intel. Lisa Su is definitely the "Steve Jobs" of AMD with such a remarkable turnaround.

6900XT:
(It's absolutely amazing to see AMD compete with the 3090)

I don't think AMD showed any RT results so presumably NVidia wins there. I don't know if that win is worth $500 though. Sure $50 for the 3080 is worth if you care about RT, but it's a harder sell for a 3090.

I dont get price of rx6800 to be honest.rx6800XT with 72CU and faster than 3080 only at 649usd.Yet they asking for rx6800 with 60cu 580usd?Only 60usd less?Should be 499usd.

Wait until AIB. 3090 can push over 400 watt and these cards have a lot of headroom. We've already seen rumors of 2500+mhz 6800/6900 models. The 6900XT is already trading blows with the 3090 at stock.

I believe AMD has claimed the absolute performance crown, all $500 cheaper than NVIDIA.

Huh? It crushes NVIDIA's 3070 which is $499 and it has double the RAM...

And it cost almost same as 6800XT with 72CU...6800XT is also faster than 3080 and cheaper. Why 6800 cant also by faster and cost atleast same as 3070?

The 6800XT looks like it will probably be roughly equal to a 3080, at least at stock. The 6800 should be a clear winner over the 3070. With that said, I agree the 6800 price is too high, should have been $549 in my opinion. However, with it being a severely cut down die on a pretty mature node (60 CU versus 80 CU full die) AMD may be looking at it as a low volume part and will bring the 6700XT to compete in the sub $500 range. Probably something like 90% of a 3070 but with more VRAM at $449.

Guys, the RX 6800 is pretty much the Radeon version of the Ryzen 5800X. It's a good part relative to the competition, but relative to the stack, it's there to entice you to the mid-tier SKU, sorta like how it's always more bang for buck to buy a car with the mid level trim instead of the base or highest trim level.

Also if the value was better it would make consumers want it over a 6800XT which means AMD would have to intentionally cripple dies that could be a better product that could have otherwise been a 6800XT in order to supply the demand.

This will sell some cards, but proportional to the number that naturally occur due to necessity of salvage instead of a forced bin of something that could have been sold for more.

Exactly this.

Its very possible AMD gave themselves some room to discount in case NVIDIA drops the price of the 3070. Regardless, I still think getting double the VRAM and a good bit more performance versus the 3070 for $80 is an amazing deal.

What is this about needing a 500 series MB to run a 6000 series card? Is that true?

I highly doubt it. Obviously for the cards to run in pcie4 you will need a 500 series board and maybe you'll need a 500 series board to use the smart memory feature with Zen3 CPUs, but if you don't care about it running in pcie4, then you shouldn't need a 500 series board.

I thought it was ridiculous too, but he mentions it here at around 1:17:00:

Or is that just to maximize performance with the 'Infinity' cache? Hopefully the reviews will be on B450 boards too so we can see if there is any meaningful difference.

I was hoping to see an answer to DLSS 2.0. Even if their RT is on par with Nvidia's, which it won't be or else they would have said so, DLSS 2.0 gives Nvidia a big edge in games using RT. And with RT in the consoles now there is no way it's not going to get widespread adoption in AAA gaming.

> AMD tells me it has a new super sampling feature in testing, which is designed to increase performance during ray tracing. The company is promising its super sampling technology will be open and cross-platform, which means it could come to next-gen consoles like the Xbox Series X and PS5. AMD is working with a number of partners on this technology, and it’s expecting strong industry support. Unfortunately, this won’t be ready for the launch of these three new Radeon RX 6000 Series cards.

These are faster than I was expecting. The 6800XT looks very attractive if it roughly matches a 3080 but has 16GB memory. I can see why Nvidia might release a 3080ti to compete.

Since it's a live stream still active, your time stamp doesn't apply so I can't comment on what he said.

RT in consoles is based on RDNA2. Looks like Big Navi has maybe 1.5x the CU's (and therefore the RT performance) consoles so whatever RT consoles implement these cards will do better or faster.

It seems likely that most engines will tune their engines/presets around RNDA2 capabilities.

Ugh, only stuff for you wealthy folk! When will we see cards for us in ~$200-250 range? If it's too long I might just get a 5600XT, maybe even discounted! Instead of waiting 5 months for something like RX6660XR or whatever its called..

Hoping to see prices like this before long:

$200/$250/$300 - 5600xt/5700/5700xt

Given they likely compete for the same wafers it seems like RNDA1 might go away quickly once they actually start shipping the new parts. There might even be lower prices temporarily to clear inventory.

It would be big turn around for AMD if they could pull an nvidia and let them die on the shelf at MSRP and launch replacements at the same or lower prices.

I don't really count the 5500xt parts as they seem on par with rx570/580 and don't bring many features besides power savings.

That would be great. Even used prices for rx5600xt are barely creeping under $250 still. Not a deal at all.

I got my rx470 for just over 200 brand new at launch and it has served me great for four years! I see no reason to bump my budget to double that.. Still not playing anything were it falls short. Maybe by the time cyberpunk is on a steam sale the cheaper GPUs will be out :p
