no stock on these in Greenville SC. Thankfully, they had a 9800gtx for $350, real tempting.

i wish somebody would check the drivers on these, to see how
well they work with content creation tools like Maya & 3D studio Max.

it is a heck of a price. but, it's got to push down on the price of the
3870, which is getting a reputation as being stable with those 2
programs & their commonly used plug-ins.

damn I'm temped to head down to my not so local BB to check this out. But I'm trying to hold out for the ddr5 version that's coming up soon. That would be a boost from my current 8800GTs. But 150 damn that's pretty good price for this.

Great price for this card as I picked one up from BB, also. Only complaint here is the overclocking ability of this card. The most I have managed is 630/1000 without the card hanging and this is barely an overclock if you even call it that at all, lol. ATI Overdrive gets me to 690/1155 and passes their tests, but it can't run at those clocks in actual gaming. You think I should take the card back and exchange it for another?

might have more to do with your case & cooling solution. dont forget that the 4850 is exhausting heat into your case. a couple of fat 120mm's above the card blowing down should help disperse some heat, and naturally you always want a clutter-free cool case with great air-flow. the 4870's are coming with dual slot cooling that draws from inside & exhausts out the back of the case. this is great because it takes the same rv770 core from ~600mhz to ~850mhz+ at stock speeds. I think the need for aftermarket dual-slot cooling of the HD4850s will surpass that of the 8800GT with single slot cooling.

You're right, better cooling should show nice reults..

For all, the Best Buy deal enabled us to get these things on the cheap and put us ahead of the curve. Even with nV price cuts, it's unlikely the normal price will dip below $179 for a couple months.

True, the only way to improve my cooling setup would be to go with watercooling or install an aftermarket cooler on the gpu; my case is far from silent. That's why I am not feeling to hopeful about this particular card, but as far as performance, I am very impressed with ATI right now. Just to add, I have my card running 60C at idle. Guess we will figure out more as we continue to work with the new cards.

It is sold to work on specified clocks, not to guarantee your some mindless oc value.

So for oc spoiled kids like yourself they should put clocks to 490/1000 so you can praise the card because it clocks to 690/1155?

do you have the fans on your antec 900 on medium? how many fans are you using? just the front two intake and the rear and top exhaust, or did you install either of the other two? specifically, installing a 120mm fan in the side fan slot would blow air directly onto your video card (I just looked at my ip35 pro in my antec 900 to verify :)).
