Do a search. There are a few recent threads about this. I completely disagree with anyone that says Dual Core is worth it right now.

First, all you have to do is install the X2 driver from AMD's website, and you never have to set affinity. Next, its not a waste, as some games are multi-threaded, and many more to come. Also, you can be doing something else at the same time without affecting the game.

duh man, my FX-57 is running at 4GHz

the solution keeps it running at -6°

The FX-57 is a better performer for games

Yes, I'm sure almost every FX-57 owner can afford to run their cpu/system like that. Its probably cheap too.

The FX-57 will dominate for gaming, but my A64 3200+ still pushes great FPS, so the 4800+X2 will easily push the games, while giving you much better performance outside of games too.

X2

My thoughts are: Might not get use outta the 2nd core yet, but in future there may be apps or games that will

Today, the FX-57 is faster for gaming. Tomorrow... That's a more interesting question.

NVidia is working on releasing a multi-threaded driver and believe they can increase performance 5 to 30% over the single threaded drivers. If the actual drivers fall in the middle of that range, then the X2 may end up being faster for all games. Then, of course, as games start supporting multi-processors the X2 will definately take the lead.

In the mean time, the X2 isn't exactly being destroyed by the FX-57.

If I were going to spend $1000 on a processor, I'd go for the 4800+ X2. The FX-57 won't let me do anything that the X2 can't do, but the same can't be said in reverse.
