AMD 3500 CPU Processor.

I just build a new system using AMD CPU 3500, the temp 72c, do you think the temp is too high?
Why my system shut down every 2 minutes. Please help. it has been for 2 weeks already.

Please advise.

I think that's definitely too high. What's your cooling setup like? Is this a custom build or a prebuilt system? You might need to reseat your heatsink/fan and possibly also reapply thermal paste to your CPU.

Just to add to what meltdown75 is saying, make sure you also have good airflow in
your case so the warm air has a place to go.

Usually what is the temperature for CPU?

When I start my system & it will show at the monitor that CPU temp 55C, after the system run for 2 minutes & automatically shut down. I wait for 2 minutes later & reboot it again & the monitor show 72C after that.

The case air flow is excellence, this case is belong to Aspire.

if your running at 72 without even being under load thats too hot.
I believe those are supposed to take up to 90C but figure bout 80% of that for a safety margin and you are already at max.

Sounds to me like you are not getting good contact between your cpu and heatsink.
It should not be running that hot.

my athlon 64 3200 venice core, at stock 2.0GHz under full load is 48 C fan speed is 3200-3300 rpm under the full load. Your cpu under full load should be around mine, which is less than 55 C. Idle is somewhere around 40 C... if that heatsink is not new, then take compressed air and blow out your cpu's heatsink. how did applying new thermal paste after removing the old, then reseating the heatsink do?

Optimally, Full load for an AMD64 cpu should hover around 48-52. I believe 65 C is the max for AMD 64s. Check your CPU voltage in bios. Better yet load optimized settings in bios and then try it. If your voltages are stock and your not overclocking, Yet your still getting the same problem, you should try reseating the cpu.

Clean off the thermal paste you used previously with isoprol alcohol and reseat it. Then check your temps again. If your getting the same temps, either your CPU is broken or your seating your CPU wrong.

edit: Max temps for your cpu is 70C.

Thank you for all of yours advise. That mean I have a heat problem. 72C without any loaded and turn on for less then 5 minutes which is 72C that's not right.

Absolutely too hot. Single core A64's sometimes run in the low to mid 40's. The best first guess is that the heatsink is not mounted or clamped properly; not making good contact with the CPU (or its fan is not running, but you should have noticed that more easily.)

earlier processors like semprons and durons were rated at 90 C but yours is only rated for 70C

Thank you!!

did you get your problem fixed?

Not yet, I need to buy a new CPU fan monday (Tomorrow)

Thank you.

I bought this @ newegg.com to solve my over heat problem.

What do you think?

Is it work with my problem?

That ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU is an excellent HSF. It's very large but does a superb job of cooling. Just make sure to install it properly. I'd use Arctic Silver5 as the thermal paste.
