yeah I like the original Danish version better too.

not exactly related, but we tried to watch the original Danish version, this:

which was recently remade into this US version:

Both are on NF streaming, and unfortunately, the subtitles on the first are out of frame...WTF?

anyway, it started off rather moody, similar to The Killing. the US version is actually quite good, too. Portman, Glyanhaal and McGuire are all rather good.

I might add I've got a huge John Boehner for Mireille Enos.

She might be the next Gillian Anderson. Not just because of the hair, but she has nerd appeal. Meaning she seems smart and attractive, but not so hot that you know she would never talk to you. Even though she probably wouldn't.*

(Excluding all the 48 inch chest, black belt multimillionaires on atot)

Having watched the Danish series, I must say it's really enjoyable to see the US version too. The characters are different, and the ending should be different too, so nice to see a good remake.

I'm thinking that the Seattle tourism board really hates this show. They have managed to completely out-gloom Detroit, which Hollywood has adequately established as the most wretched, depressing, gloomy shit-hole int he country.

see: True Romance
8-Mile
Robocop
etc
😀

Thoughts on tonight's episode?

Didn't mind the break from the "action." I enjoyed seeing some actual bonding occur between Linden and Holder, as well as finally learning some backstory. Realized I like the actor playing Holder quite a bit...I feel like this was his episode to shine.

With only two episodes left, I'm worried that the writers are going to cram like a month's worth of plot twists into the ending, and it's going to turn out being one of those whodunit's where the murderer was someone that no one would ever guess...some guy that was selling hot dogs in the background of a scene in the pilot or something.

I was :| until this episode. She's got a nice lower half for a short girl. Good posture too. :awe:

I didn't like this ep at all much. The entire time was just looking for her son, but only the last quarter of the search really provided any sort of insight into their relationship. I'm sure with two eps left this whole episode will never turn out to be anything.

Tonight's epi was an insight into season 2... It was there to give us a peek into both of their lives. I liked it.

Knowing how AMC works, this will all make sense next week and in the finale.

WTF on the commercials tonight. It's about 10 minutes show, 7 minutes commercials. For f*cks sakes, there was a minute long commercial for a vibrator (Trojan Vibrations...). The hell?

You should check out them new dvr contraptions. 😛

Didn't like last nights episode. Yeah it was a classic bottle episode and it did give insight into the main characters, but I was hoping it would really pick up during the last few episodes and this one really took the foot off the gas. I was starting to think her son had something to do with Rosie Larson's murder too, now that would be a twist.

The two leads are interesting enough that I thought it was a pretty good episode.

Only two left, so it'll kick to full speed starting next week. Shit's going down.

Whenever Holder talks I was to just "scream spit it out already!", but in this episode I came to appreciate the character far more.

Good episode, kinda exasperating.

I LOVE this show. True quality, adult programming, with highly nuanced and individualistic characters and plotting illumed with an endlessly atmospheric, rain-soaked "semi-noir" sensibility.

She really floats my boat. Must be that good posture! 😛

Whoa 😱

Oh shit! 😱

I knew it!
So good. Good to the BONE!

+1

Wow. The whole episode was fantastic. Better cinematography than lots of $100 Million "blockbusters." I knew right when
the escort girl said "if you wanna know....come to the corner of etc" that she was staring at a billboard or something of Richmond
, and from that point till the episode ended was on par with the final ten minutes or so of Se7en. That was one of the best reveals I've ever seen on network television.

Went right to sleep after it finished but what an amazing episode. Almost every scene was relevant and to the point and propelled the story forward. (Compare this to last week's episode where there was at least 10 minutes of waiting in a car looking for her son with nothing happening.)

LOVED the chime of the computer she said to send the email. And again and again. Great buildup with nothing but a sound file from a computer. Then the guy coming in with just his silhouette...

Knowing that next week is the last episode, I'm finally seeing the pros and cons of such a short season. The major thing is that alot of stuff is never tied up and there are too many loose ends now. What happened to the teacher? His wife? What's gonna happen to the fired moving guy? What about her husband coming back after 10 years? And the whole terrorist subplot/smuggling girls to Canada thing (pointless)? The subplot of him going back to his old mob boss and gambling debts? What about her current fiance? (Two weeks now since she skipped out on traveling down and he's only been around once? Damn patient dude.)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to next week.

Loved episode 11, it was a great character building thing.

Last night's was great, but I get the feeling that there will be some twist... like every other episode so far.

No, finale is this Sunday, but yeah didn't see that coming but don't jump to conclusions either with the way this show goes through suspects.

I'm really surprised people are saying it was so good, and that it wasn't "predictable". I've seen things called "predictable" for way more surprising things.

Really? Give an example then.

Yea, I think it was predictable in the sense that
with the presence of the whole campaign storyline, that it had to be one of them. That said, I don't actually think it's the councilman. This show has a tendency to throw suspects at you like crazy. Personally, I'm betting it's the assistant dude.
