you know that she can be right about the city and state not handing money to billionaires and being a part of that not happening while also not being central to that not happening, don't you?

she was certainly central to the media firestorm around it, due to all her nut hangers over at fox who need to oppose her every tweet.
I agree with everything you just said

As a white male myself, I have to say that this is quite the load of fearmongering racist paranoid bullshit.
First, China is not as united as you present (although its govt may want us to believe so).
And second, no, we will not be allowing white male discontents to dictate a single culture for America any more than we will be allowing 'woke' feminists to do so. Get over yourself.

Perhaps our divided form of Government could only ever function under a single culture.

OK, you can stay bitter about it. Normal people are happy when cities eventually stand up to handout seeking corporations and win, which is what happened here because of people like AOC. Maybe where you live is a shithole and can only attract businesses with tax handouts and turning a blind eye to pollution. But you can at least aspire for your city to eventually have the human capital to attract good jobs without those gimmicks.
My city has plenty of human capital. I am sure it is a lot like yours. Every few days someone finds a needle in the parks where kids play. There are increasing homeless living on the streets, in train stations and in green spaces. Taxes are high and yet the politicians, all Democrats by the way, have no vision for building out the infrastructure to meet the housing and transportation needs of the population. Student performance even in the good schools are flatlining or declining relative to other countries.

It’s a real shithole. But hey, at least you get to smugly look down on the parts of the economically depressed parts of the country and circle jerk with like minded lemmings over what a politican tweeted. Good on you I guess.

What other cultures do we have besides American?
For starters, the most obvious division. Republican and Democrat. They share / want nothing in common these days.

Yet when one side wins an election, it requires the Presidency, both houses of Congress, and a super majority in the Senate in order to even think about advancing any legislation. Absent a status of near-absolute power, the opposition easily stops the will of the voters. Nothing ever gets done, and the people grow ever desperate and accepting of the use of force to attain power.

You're talking about a culture trying to figure out which direction it is going to change. That isn't the same as saying we have multiple cultures.

America has always been a blend of different cultures. America works best when those different cultures align to common values. It splinters when those cultural differences, and the dogmatic purity tests that go with them, align around polar opposite positions for which there is no middle ground.

So move to a right wing shithole. Why do you stay if you hate it so much?

I am watching on tv. I changed the channel after watching you fumble, again. Your welcome to bring your A game at any time. Counting on you, big guy.
It’s sad you used to be a reasonable, occasionally intelligent poster here. Now you’ve just reduced yourself to lame trolling and thread derailment. Someday you might take some accountability for the person you have chosen to become. I hope you do.

My immigrant family settled in one of them and established roots from the time when Democrats used to care about blue collar workers, union workers and tradespeople. Why do we need to leave just because the knowledge workers decided it was fashionable to live in our spaces?

I appreciate your concern and lame passive aggressive attempt at an ad hominem. You should reflect on why you’re so obsessed with my opinion.

Bull shit. Other than tax cuts and repealing ACA the republicans don’t do shit when in power and the democrats are in power they constantly compromise, which usually ends up still with no republicans voting for the bill.

I can only imagine the cognitive dissonance felt by conservatives who demanded a candidate to fight the corporate elite and it turned out to be AOC, lol, and they made her the centerpiece.

You're talking about a culture trying to figure out which direction it is going to change. That isn't the same as saying we have multiple cultures.

I'm sorry, but aren't you and I pinko commies? I mean, we don't lick boots at the altar of Trump... so we must be, right?

How can you look at both sides of America today and say they still share things in common? We've been "other"ed to death, and violence to oppose each other is just around the corner. With a wanton disregard for others as people feel pain, a detachment from both reality and each other, plus a desperate desire to win power at all costs. To win power from the "other".

Mitch McConnell does not hail from a society that I recognize, or that I want in my country. Nor do his supporters.
Likewise, they do not want a society where I get to help our fellow Americans. You will take your trickle down and thank them for it... or else.

You know what? With the advent of Trump and the depths they reach to stand by their man, America has reached "or else". Our darkest moment may be upon us. Borne of our divisions. Yes, for the direction our future... but because we no longer share anything in common with the other side. Alt-reality is a real affliction that they share, in mass. We can win election and peacefully try to help them.... or, more likely, they'll prevent their own salvation. I fear for us all when Congressmen peddle conspiracy theories instead of reality. They sound more like Alex Jones, rather than sane rationale people that I can share a country with.

How do you see it?

It's heartening to see you've been listening. That's exactly the right answer. Go about your life, vote as you see fit, share your ideas with others. If you feel that near half the country has become your enemy, seek help. You can get better, you can have a normal healthy life.
Those "others" don't want you dead, they don't want to imprison you, they don't want to take away your rights. Mostly what they want to do is live a quiet life. It really is up to you, fight an imaginary war over an issue that will be over and done with in a year, or continue living well, secure in the knowledge that you can go almost anywhere in the country, meet those others, smile, shake their hands, and have some new friends.
I've done this, it works. I have friends that span the entire political spectrum, and I'm not afraid of any of them.
