Amazon Shipping

I think Amazon is purposely delaying the shipping of my orders to convince me to subscribe to prime. I have noticed as of lately that it is taking them FOREVER to ship my orders. Third party orders are spot on and come in a reasonable amount of time. I order 2 sets of xbox one controller chargers on the 27th and they still haven't shipped...

For me, same thing but once it ships, I get them in 2 days. To me, it all evens out where before it would take a week or so to get to me.

I KNOW that Amazon was delaying my shipments in order to convince me to subscribe to Prime. Now that I subscribe to Prime if I order something it usually ships that day, even if it is a Sunday. I still geek out over Sunday delivery.

90% of stuff from Amazon seems to be from 3rd party vendors, and for some reason they are very slow at actually shipping stuff out. I've had to wait over 2 months for stuff at some times. Most of it is from China. Now I tend to use ebay more than Amazon. It still comes from China, but ebay shippers seem faster for some reason. Usually get stuff in under 2 weeks.

I'll usually go on Amazon for the odd chance that I find something actually fulfilled by Amazon but it's rare unless it's a very basic commodity item, in which I can just buy locally.

Funny thing is, I don't know if Prime benefits even applies to 3rd parties.

To be fair you are in Canada. 😉

But seriously if using the free shipping it comes to me in a week at most like it shows when you select it and it's nice if it's not something you need in a rush and usually it's just 2-3 days of actual shipping time and the rest is a few days before it's shipped out.

Still beats cutting a form out of a catalog, filling it out, enclosing a check, mailing it, and waiting a short 4-6 weeks to get your stuff. I don't have Prime, and I have no complaints about Amazon's service.

With free shipping, your order will be delivered 5-8 business days after all of your items are available to ship,

:whiste:

Can someone add 5-8 business days to Aug 27th for me? I am arithmetically challenged.

I avoid 3d party myself.

Even with Prime it can be a PITA.

Had a Snare drum head get lost somewhere awhile back, I let it ride for awhile.

I called up and they admitted something was wrong and shipped another in two days.

It was lost somewhere.

Is rare here though.

Non Prime member shipping has gotten much faster over the last year or two. In the past it would take 2 weeks for a package to get to me. Most of that time the item was just sitting in a warehouse. It was so slow I would avoid ordering from amazon and would pay a bit more to order from somewhere else.

I'd imagine that would be third party, got me.

Even when I used non Prime it was always faster than that in the past.

But I'm not you, so can't say I guess.

Convinced they do this with my shipments too. I confirmed with them over chat this is the case.

I chose 5-8 free.

The package did not ship until day 7 and it arrived to me on day 8. First class mail that probably shipped from a facility near me. If they had just shipped it on day 0, I would have gotten it on day 1 (and it would cost them on their side the exact same amount of money) but of course that would cause their "Prime" service to lose usefulness.

All in all, Amazon does so many other things right that I could care less about their tactics in this matter. It was sweet in the early days of Newegg where "Saver" 7 days would get to me in two days, but alas, it's worth mentally preparing yourself that Amazon free shipping means "as late as possible without breaching contract".

You want 1 day service without paying 1 day price? LOL

Amazon is testing limitations to Prime shipping by region - which may or not affect you -but here it is:

That's only for 3rd party sellers using Amazon fulfillment services. I can see this actually increasing the availability of items fulfilled by Amazon as it likely reduces the program cost for the vendor since they are not committing every sale to prime.

There is no indication that this will change the shipping of Amazon sold items.

If you order a lot of stuff from amazon, why not just get prime? If you don't, then who cares if your stuff takes long to shop?

Oh yeah, how quick we forget those days!

I order a lot - and I tried out prime this year because they had some promo to get $20 off - but I will likely not be renewing.

I don't need anything (other than food, grocery store) that can't wait a week or two to get $35+ for free shipping and another few days for shipping.

This is true. I guess most of the stuff I order is more short term things like say, oh I ran out of golf balls, or I am going low on protein powder and it'll be out in 2-3 days. I guess it's because I'm a poor planner for things like that, so having my item get to my door in 2 days is very handy for me.
