If the Bible were banned for disturbing content, then, by corollary, the whole of human history would be subject to the same offenses. If we start banning everything that is offensive to "people of normal sensibilities," not much past the bible will get published...and that book is FULL of "questionable sexual situations," such as incest, polygamy, and so forth...
HOWEVER. Free speech does not mean you can say anything you want. For example, you can not yell 'FIRE' in a theater, 'BOMB' on a airplane, etc. This is because it endangers people's lives. I actually think this book could be endangering the lives of children more so they yelling fire at a movie. Thus I could see legal grounds for a banning.
So anything is fair game?
Books about raping paraplegics prvide more (slightly) value than censorship?
damn...that's intense...What kind of person would write such literature, I wonder?
Why don't you just go ahead and move to China if you feel censorship is the answer.
?
Not sure if you are suggesting I am some sort of crappy parent. My point was, once I became a parent, things changed and priority number one was my son. There's nothing I wouldn't do to protect him from this sort of scum. I just find this offensive and don't see what value this provides to our society.
This is America and I have the right to think that this should be banned, just as you have the right to think it shouldn't.

If you can find a publisher for such rubbish more power to you.
Hmm. Guess I'm not of the enlightened mind that thinks any of this crap is zero valued and should be banned. Yeah, I know there's a slippery slope but I'm willing to live my life with concessions with the knowledge that my family is safe.
Books should never be banned, regardless of content. If you don't want to read it, don't buy it.
If I had the money, I'd love to sell books banned by Amazon. I'd take everything they rejected, and heavily advertise that fact. I think it would be a successful niche. If any of you takes that up, make sure you give me a cut ;^)
And how do you presume to know what I do or do not know?
Guess I understand your pov now that I notice where you hail from...
Exactly, people saying "Books should never be banned" aren't getting the point. Amazon is a business and can choose to not sell whatever they want, and people want them to stop selling this item. Ridiculous how socialism gets brought up about people wanting a business to stop selling something.
