The problem is, they have multiple distribution centers. What likely happened was they quoted you based on an item being in stock at one distribution center, but it went out of stock there as you ordered and had to be shipped from a different center.

My experience has been I've gotten next day packages on Monday from a Saturday order only 50% of the time.
Could be. I know one item I got literally the last in stock. I was logged in but maybe their order estimate, which is definitely running logic constantly, isn't quite able to include my zip until I make the order. I also noticed before I ordered that the hours to Monday delivery countdown would change frequently, like maybe four hours left, then twelve, then ten, but that was merely an observation, so it's certainly running checks regularly.

They did not correct until I had ordered. And of course it won't arrive on time since on time is tomorrow and it hasn't yet shipped...

I changed op to simplify it. Its material substance ws unchanged. Point of thread was wondering if this is common with amazon, nothing more. For whatever reason the feelings people had when they found their dad cheating on their mom all came to a front with my original wording so I thought I'd take another stab at it. Only on the interwebs can complaining about paying for a service and not receiving it on time bring out such righteous anger:whiste:

They will refund you money. Like I said, this has happened about 5 times out of 10 on items Ive ordered on Saturday that said I would receive them Monday if I choose 1 day shipping.

I don't get why any store would do this kind of guarantee. How can you guarantee something that's out of your control?

That said, expecting a package from any store at any time within 1 day is kinda unrealistic unless you live near the warehouse. Even then, usually it takes 1-2 days just to process. I usually expect a week and if I get it within then I'm happy. I have seen the odd occasion where I get something the next day, but I must of gotten very lucky where the timing was right or something.

Typically in the US, the carriers guarantee the shipment speed and work closely with the company to maintain that commitment. UPS, FedEX and USPS all have 1, 2 day guaranteed delivery which Amazon uses. Having worked in this space for many years, I know that expedite processing runs happen same day, but usually have a cut off as the last carrier pickup for expedite is around 7pm local time.

Personally, Amazon has met every delivery estimate on Prime eligible orders. During Thanksgiving I actually had two orders come a day earlier than promised as the shipping was automatically upgraded to next day.

fucking christ its the godamned holidays give them a fuckingbreak.

No...if they promise one day shipping, they should be expected to deliver one day shipping...BUT, I'm not sure whether Saturday/Sunday counts in that.

Not all of the items listed on our site are available immediately, so selecting One-Day or Two-Day Shipping does not necessarily mean your order will arrive in one or two days. Saturday and Sunday delivery is available for certain locations. Also, when you select One-Day or Two-Day Shipping, we may use air or ground shipping as necessary to get your items to you within the promised time frame.

It's also entirely possible that this item had to be drop-shipped from the manufacturer or wholesaler instead of being shipped from an Amazon warehouse.

Oh yeah...and this:

One-Day Shipping Rates for U.S. Deliveries Delivery within 1 business day. (The transit time begins the first full shipping day after the package leaves our facility.) Click here for more information on calculating delivery dates. No P.O. boxes or APO, FPO, or DPO Saturday and Sunday delivery available for certain locations.

I'm not sure whether pick up is scheduled for Saturday/Sunday, or if it is only M-F.

That's a #upsproblem

You must have gotten a bad customer rep since they'll usually take care of any issue regardless of fault, within reason.

Truth be told, I never contacted Amazon, I assume they would realize on their own that the UPS plane missed a connection in SoCal due to being delayed for take off in Arizona, so my package came late. I assumed it was because I was prime, so I wouldn't get a refund.

In my experience you always have to contact the company to inform them that the shipper has not met the delivery time that you've paid for. I've always been refunded the difference in such instances. Why wouldn't they? They simply charge it back to the shipper. In the cases we have items shipped via our shippiing account numbers, we can do this online directly with UPS or Fedex in 2 minutes.

I got the packages today. The tracking history of the items was extremely strange, like in one case it claimed to have left their dist center 25 min after the order even though there were no items whatsoever I could look at until yesterday (when they say they shipped--two days after order).

Anyway, long story short I asked Amazon to refund me the diff and a few hours later got an email that they had refunded the entirety of shipping. Amazon is always winning. Even if they take an extra day :)
