I made the order and immediately the estimate was put to Tuesday the 6th.
Whoa whoa whoa...they corrected the estimate IMMEDIATELY and you're complaining about it? Seriously? Why didn't you just contact Amazon's customer service immediately and see what they could do for you?

BTW, I just looked up The Dark Knight on Blu-ray and it says I can have it by Monday with (Prime) overnight shipping. I've also been on amazon in the early hours (2-4am or so) and some items have an option for same-day delivery. It's really not classy to start bitching about not receiving an item on time when "on time" hasn't even arrived yet.

Anyway, apparently nobody here ever pays for one-day shipping and doesn't mind paying for what they didn't receive. I have no doubt Amazon will cover the diff, thanks for the lovely thoughts, y'all, carry on!

That's exactly what I would do! You had your doubts about the claim and knew what to expect; so you should complain to Amazon and not to the un-sympathetic Internet.

Doesn't matter. Complaining about it during the holiday season would make you an idiot.

As another privileged first-world person (for now), I think it's ridiculous to complain about this.

Sure, they estimated that it would arrive on Monday and there's reason to doubt that it will. I think a sane person would have been dubious of the original estimate and wouldn't be surprised at all by this.

I've ordered thousands of items from Amazon and 99% of the time it will arrive by their estimate (and when a package is delayed, it's usually the case where the package was shipped in time, but the shipping company wasn't able to fulfill their commitment). So I wouldn't have any reason to doubt their estimate when placing an order.

Not to mention monday hasn't even come and gone yet and you're already bitching about it. Why don't you let monday come and go and see if you've gotten the item rather than prematurely bitching.

I just realized the date and thought the exact same thing.

I don't get why any store would do this kind of guarantee. How can you guarantee something that's out of your control?

That said, expecting a package from any store at any time within 1 day is kinda unrealistic unless you live near the warehouse. Even then, usually it takes 1-2 days just to process. I usually expect a week and if I get it within then I'm happy. I have seen the odd occasion where I get something the next day, but I must of gotten very lucky where the timing was right or something.

Newbs above, I wasn't looking for advice, merely to see if this is common with Amazon one-day. I paid one-day, expect one day. I'll get them to refund my shipping differential between one day and two day.

That's my big boy. Go get 'em tiger!

If there is one thing I have learned in my year or so here, it is to NEVER post a shipping rant on ATOT. No matter what, it will never end well for the OP. That is all, carry on gentlemen. :p

If the site claimed it would arrive by a certain day, I would expect it to arrive by that day, especially for 1 day shipping.

Shit happens. I've had two cases I can think of where I paid the extra $4 to upgrade my prime shipping to overnight on a Friday and it saying it'd arrive on Saturday and wound up not making it till Monday.

They refund the $4 but not anything that can be done about it.

It's annoying but when they're on time 99% of the time otherwise it's hard to complain.

It is not very common, if you call customer service, they would probably refund you the amount. I have never tried buying on a saturday and expecting the shipment to arrive on monday. I have had several occurances where the shipment was one-day even though I paid for 2nd-day. It's not something I would complain about.

The expection being if I specifically pay for saturday delivery and the delivery is not made (I would be on the phone with customer support to get the shipping fee back). This option is usually quite expensive and I would only utilize this option for time-senstive requirements.

You are lucky, they wouldn't refund it when it happen to me. The site says no refund for any prime shipping for any reason. UPS had a issue withs its plane out of Arizona, so my shippment came one day late. I waited and waited and waited and Amazon never refunded my $3.99 I paid.

That's a #upsproblem

You must have gotten a bad customer rep since they'll usually take care of any issue regardless of fault, within reason.

Dubious, why? Amazon ships thousands of packages each day, they know exactly what they are doing--or so I thought. The estimate was Monday, so I paid a premium, and then immediately after receipt of order it went to Tuesday. I'm frankly surprised that an order could ever be made at 1:30 am on a Saturday and be delivered by Monday, but apparently it generally can be done, hence why Amazon says it can.

The problem is, they have multiple distribution centers. What likely happened was they quoted you based on an item being in stock at one distribution center, but it went out of stock there as you ordered and had to be shipped from a different center.

My experience has been I've gotten next day packages on Monday from a Saturday order only 50% of the time.

They did not correct until I had ordered. And of course it won't arrive on time since on time is tomorrow and it hasn't yet shipped...

I changed op to simplify it. Its material substance ws unchanged. Point of thread was wondering if this is common with amazon, nothing more. For whatever reason the feelings people had when they found their dad cheating on their mom all came to a front with my original wording so I thought I'd take another stab at it. Only on the interwebs can complaining about paying for a service and not receiving it on time bring out such righteous anger:whiste:
