I ordered an ups through them back in September for my home theater setup and things had been going ok. The last few weeks though I started to get a very high pitched whine from it. It was so bad I could hear it through even loud movies. So I emailed Amazon asking what I needed to do to get it fixed since Amazon won't take the item back due to the battery being hazardous materials.

I didn't ask for a refund or replacement, just guidance on how to handle this issue. I got an email back a few hours later with a link to a tracking number and a request I donate it or dispose of it properly.

I think they just might have the best customer service around. I have never had to fight with them or haggle over issues with any of the orders I've had through them. Everyone should be like Amazon and everyone should use them. :awe:

I've been using Amazon Prime for a few years and really like it. Free 2-day shipping & $4 next-day shipping is really nice, although it does bug me that they allow third-party vendors to skip Prime, so you have to pay for shipping - that's lame, since not "everything" sold by Amazon really gets free shipping. However, we've started to switch a lot of our household purchases over to it (cereal, babyfood, etc.). Makes buying in bulk nice too, without having to drive to Sam's Club or Costco. And overall, Amazon's service has been really good - it's usually not a lot of trouble to return or exchange something.

We also have a local service from our Stop & Shop grocery store called PeaPod, which delivers fresh food. I used their freebie coupon and they did a really good job. I think they charge about $7 per delivery, and I'm sure I spend more than that on junk I don't need while I'm at the store :D Ultimately you'd hardly have to go out for anything, between PeaPod & Amazon. That's pretty nice!

I agree their CS is what sets them above the rest. Ive returned many things for many reasons over the years and never a hassle on one of them.

Have anyone used the Locker Delivery thing? i just noticed it yesterday and was wondering if anything had experience.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...deId=200689010

I think it is a great idea and they already have a locker near my home.

I've never used it, I just have it delivered to my house. There was a thread in ATOT where someone was getting their packages stolen repeatedly, that guy needs to try that out!

Third party vendor is not Amazon...

Sure...technically. But if I buy it from Amazon.com, but it's not sold by Amazon.com, that's kind of dumb, don't you think? It's a stupid marketing technicality.

I hate that Newegg is doing it now too...I get nearly everything shipped free 3-day from Newegg, but now they have third-party vendors who charge extra for shipping. It's sold from Newegg but not by Newegg.

Lame.

Its not really a technicality when the item is shipped by the 3rd party and not by Amazon.

I don't think it's just a marketing technicality - you are actually buying the product from the third party in these instances. All Amazon is doing is facilitating the transaction (think a more integrated Google Checkout/Paypal).

If you don't like buying from third-parties, you can always filter results to only include Amazon as the seller.

Not trying to derail thread, but I am seriously curious. Would it be proper to say "an" UPS or "a" UPS. If a vowel makes a consonant sound, should it be preceded by an A or An? And furthermore, if said vowel is a U that makes a Y (which can be considered either) sound, what is the rule?

Amazon.ca had the preorder Mellon Collie Smashing Pumpkins vinyl reissue for about $27 last month. It is going for $70+ everywhere else.

The price was fixed in a couple of hours, but quite a few people ordered it. Nothing came from Amazon for awhile so we thought they'd just eat the mistake.

Two weeks ago I get an email saying that they have "issues" with their supplier and that our order is cancelled. I thought it was just a BS excuse to cancel all of the orders with the price mistake, but didn't think much of it and moved on.

Then last week they send an email saying that my order cancellation was a mistake, and included a one-time use code so I can order it again at the original price.

I was blown away at this service. Can you imagine ANY other company, not only sending an apology for cancelling my order, but letting me order again it at my original price, which was a price mistake in the first place!! I mean.. no other company would do that.. ever.

I have prime. I'm still waiting on a shipment I placed on the 21st. Suppose to be delivered today. Sometimes you get 2 day free shipping sometimes you don't. I placed about 8 separate orders from last monday to yesterday. About half I got actual 2 day business shipping deliveries. The other half have been significantly longer.

I also hate that they started collecting taxes for Texas :( Oh well. I'll probably buy less from them then and more from newegg in the future. Soon as my prime expires.

"a" ups. if it was worded out, then "an".

Thanks, that was my initial thought when I read the OP, but then I second guessed myself, and wasn't so sure.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming...

That is akin to going to flea market, buying from a vendor, not happy with it and blame the flea market operator.

their service is great... had to return a wifi extender because it didn't work with FIOS and they took it back no questions, and without restocking fees.

But I look for alternatives first because they charge tax for NY.

So far it has been exactly the opposite for me. Most of my orders have been delivered next day. The latest is an order I placed yesterday that was delivered today.

I usually immediately filter by "amazon prime". I haven't had any issue with getting the free 2-day delivery since. Sometimes, when you add to cart and you are not paying close attention, Amazon.com defaults to adding the least expensive base price alternative from a different merchant if you don't use the filter. Also, sometimes, if the warehouse is only 1 state away, you will get upgraded to 1 day delivery for free. Sucks that VA is getting the automatic sales tax charge next year...
