Amazon is selling over a million Kindles a week

The Kindle active apps aren't Android apps, are they?
Anything on Amazon's App Store will run on any compatible Android device; it doesn't have to be a Kindle Fire.

I bought two Kindles in the last few weeks; a Kindle 4 for my parents and a Kindle Touch for myself.

When you see a woman offering a 90 minute "massage" on Craigslist in return for a Kindle Fire, that does things to your psyche.

Just sayin.

pretty sure some kid in china sold a kidney for an iphone

That's Apple, not Amazon. Totally different. Makes sense, in fact.

But in all seriousness, you are joking about the kidney thing, but I'm not. I really saw that on Craigslist.

It was an ipad. And it wasnt an ipad. It was a CRAPLOAD of money and one of the first things he bought was the ipad. He also could have paid for college with the cash, had China any decent colleges.

I'm not talking about the Android App Store:

I'm talking about Kindle Active Content:

OP is an article on Kindles, not Kindle Fires. If they were selling over a million KF's a week, that would be insane.

AFAIK, those cannot be delivered to the Kindle Android App. I would guess they aren't compatible with the KF either? Not that it really matters, I suppose. Would love to know what % of those sales are KF.

Played with the Fires at BB this morning. Bastards had some demo video that played every time I tried to open the browser. Couldn't actually do any web surfing on it.

Yep I had that problem too. It almost felt like they were trying to hide the browser's capabilities (or lack thereof)...

Thats what it felt like. The home screens, book shelves, and newsstand sections were all fast and snappy though.

They had Nook Tablets on display, but not powered on. If you go to a B&N store, they don't hide them or have them demo locked. 🙂

It was about $3400, and he bought an iPad, an iPhone, and a MacBook. Don't think there was much left over that.

I don't see the point of the Fire, but then I haven't been within 50 yards of one, AFAIK. E-Ink appeals to me, it's supposed to be much easier on the eyes. If I need computer power I'll use my PCs, if I want to read it will be paper or E-Ink. I ordered my Kindle K3 Keyboard last night.

Why no specific numbers on the Fire?

No but this means the fire is selling more the any other version of the Kindle so if I were to guess, 300-400k a week right now sounds safe since #1 it is selling more than any other kindle and #1 1 million kindles sell a week.

Kindle Fire remains the #1 bestselling, most gifted, and most wished for product across the millions of items available on Amazon.com since its introduction 11 weeks ago

Because most buyers are not technologically inclined and aren't aware of the rest of the benefits to eink. There is a reason B&N was successful in their nook color push.

My wife bought me the fire for Christmas. So far I love it. But I'm not the crazy customize hack everything type of person either. I wanted it for reading, watching some movies, web surfing etc. Not looking for a desktop replacement. It will be mainly used on the road at work and if lost/broken I feel better replacing $199 fire vs $500 ipad.

The one thing I will say, which has been echoed everywhere, is that the silk browser sucks ass, real ass. Seemed laggy, and not responsive at times to the touch. I sideloaded Dolphin HD and it made a world of difference.
